Best Bet

Race 1 - Caulfield No. 4 Jenkins Win $5.50

Value Bet

Race 9 - Randwick No. 11 Valac

Each Way $14 win $4.20 Place

The Caulfield Correspondant (Wadda) is probably going to collate our picks (all-up style) but we've still got the Morphettville Marauder (Binman) to come.  Well over 1500-1 already though (boosted) for the 5 picks.  Worth a coffee outlay!

And I hereby dub the newest member of the team the 'Moonee Valley Maestro' (JV7)

Here is the official list of nicknames

Dee Zephyr - Flemington Forecaster

Binman - Morphettville Marauder

Wadda - Caulfield Correspondent

Gorgoroth - Randwick Rampager

JV7 - Moonee Valley Maestro

ProperDee - Warwick Farm Whisperer

Macca - Hong Kong Wizard

Best Bets:

Caulfield Race 1 No. 4 Jenkins $5.50  (W)

Caulfield Race 4 No 3 Warning $4.40 (W)

Caulfield Race 5 No.3 Soothing $3.10 (W)

Randwick Race 4 No 4 Still Single $3.90 (W)

Caulfield  Race 7 No. 9 God Of Thunder $4.60 (W)

1345/1  this week folks if you want to put a lazy $1.00 on the multi and get a plane ticket to Greece!

Have a great Cup Day everyone.

I have been struggling to land on my best. Vasilating between arcadia queen, royal meeting and brutal.

But have landed on royal meeting. Caulfield race 8 no 2. Group one winner at its second start in Europe and is up against an average lot in a small field. $3.40 fixed odd atm so good value.

Soon enough we will be on one of the betting agencies social media pages "how a lucky punter turned $5 into $30,000"

My best bet is Race 5 No.3 (Soothing) $3.10

So what do we all like in the Caulfield Cup & The Everest?

I'm with Mer De Glace in the Cup but not with any confidence.  Taken an exacta with a few involved.

And I'm sticking with Sunlight (E/W) at very good odds in the Everest but again,  the race is a good one for the exotics.

2 big races in each State?  I like it.  A point of difference is fine by me and there are enough good jockeys around to ride on the good horses (in each State)

I look upon it as increasing the interest across the board.  Competition is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.  The racing bodies in Melbourne will disagree but they'll get by.

n.b. RSN (The Greater 3UZ) have got Peter Moody on for the next 2 hours live from Caulfield (from 10.00am)

Me as well DZ. They are my 2 standouts. Both very tough fields though.

Will be following Maccas routine and doing a few exotics hoping to snare the outsider who gets in among them.

Well when we include Binmans pick we are pretty close to the 5k mark. Worth a cup of coffee eh?

By the way all 6 BBs place bets add up to around 20/1 depending on where you put it on. Not bad at all.

I have found that exacta's are a better percentage play for me Wadda.  I still do the odd 'Spec' trifecta or F4 but they're much harder to get (and I like winning)

However,  there is a projected $2Million F4 pool in the Caulfield Cup today and the pool for the Everest is probably along similar lines.  A chance to win big.

And I've decided from here on in to not make any comments on jockeys at all!  You won't hear a whisper from me.  Contrarily,  you blokes can say whatever you like.  I am officially out of those conversations ?

Melbourne Cup Demonland Marquee here we come!

Started well with Etreme Pride in the first.

@macca, I like Mer and Vow, reckon Mer is a better chance but thought I’d take both.

In the Everest I went Aizee.

Nice early collect for you Gorg ... I tend to ignore the earlier races but I did have an exacta in that race but no good.  Small outlay only though.

James Jordan's Morphettville tips are up on www.racing.com.  There's a few value rumners amongst his tips.  And JJ is in very good form lately.

Gator's Caulfield tips can be found on racing.com as well (under the Best bets banner)

I usually put something on, also like to take some dark horses like debt’n’deficet... ?

I never blame jockies and it wasnt my intention to do so, but i do think they are simply a big part of the equation and not infallible.

Had $5 left on my voucher so I dropped it each way on Mirage Dancer, for some reason each time I looked at the race the name popped out at me.

Blinkers have done the trick apparently with 'Thought of That' but the horse may go from a maiden winner at Donald to a Victorian derby winner within the space of a 25 days.

Prizemoney 23k to $2Million.  Meteoric rise.

Whooda thunk-it.

I was on board. That donald win was brilliant and this was a carbon don't, stack them up a bit then pur tge foot down and clear away. I was hoping it would be a bit better price but ill take the win.

Just over 2 seconds off the track record BM.   And that track record was probably run on a fast track ('07) ... 'Thought of That' was carrying 57kgs today too.  Shades of 'Might and Power'

Very impressive winner.  It's already into $2.80 equal favourite with 'Shadow Hero' for the Derby.   It's out of those 2 now you'd imagine.

I don't back futures as a rule, but thought about backing it for the derby before this  race. But clean forgot today.

Win made more impressive by humma humma's win as that showed there is no leader's bias

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
