Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Finals Thread

Mainly to get my mind off today, I'm looking ahead to next week two weeks away.

If the Hawks roll Collingwood and GWS topple North, as you may expect, it would set week one up for something like this:

Qualifying Finals

Sydney v West Sydney

Geelong v Hawthorn

Elimination Finals

Adelaide v North

West Coast v Footscray

Two cracking qualifying finals and, potentially, two ugly eliminations. Whatever happens, I think the semis could be toss of the coin and same for the prelims. Should (hopefully) be an entertaining finals series.

(Of course, this still relies on a few results to go the right way and - knowing my tipping- that may in fact be unlikely!)

Will possibly get shouted down for this -  but thrilled for Fitzpatrick. Good on him.

So the first week of finals will be as above.

Cats have the best record against other top 8 sides, Sydney look the best, Hawthorn are Hawthorn, I'd say Eagle and Giants come in with good form.

Crows, Dogs and North looking in trouble - though a 100 point win could help get Adelaide's confidence up.

I'm just so glad to see Hawthorn, Geelong and Swans up there again.

Just a bit more tweaking to the free agency rules and we can all look forward to the next ten years of these three teams finishing top four. Gee it's great. Well done AFL.

My suggestions would be because every player wants to go and play there maybe we should think about letting the big three have a couple of extra players on their lists, the players association is all for it, that Marsh bloke is positively wetting himself he's that excited.

And for all you Dees fans I know this year was a bit of an abberation but don't worry with some hard work and dedication I'm pretty sure we can get back into the bottom four, well maybe not next year but deffo 2018.

Go Dees, Go AFL. Or is that the SGHFL.

Nah.  Sure, we haven't had it easy, but most of it has been by our own design.  We are creating something, and when we start to see the benefits of the list we are putting together (over the next two years, I would expect) we may become a destination club, and have sustained top of the ladder time.

Geelong - massive father son advantages now paying off, plus 'go home' factor for a few exceptional players.  And Mitch Clark.

Hawthorn - Destination club, but are starting to look old and fragile.  They have been up for a while, and keep getting free agency players etc, but have managed their circumstances well.  Umpires still enthralled (Cyril) so always get the rub of the green.

Swans - AFL simply have to keep them successful.  When they are not, TV numbers are way down in Syd, a major market.

Fremantle - Free-fall Fremantle?  If they were up the top this year, would we be saying the same thing about them?

GWS (and Suns) - had to be made a success, and fast.  Fat PHIL was the answer.

Our future is in our own hands.  We have to be able to compete with, and beat, these clubs in season and in finals, when we do that consistently, we become one of these 'destination clubs' with all the good TV slots, admiring umpires, positive press and players wanting to win a flag with us.  I believe PJ and Roos have set us up for this, now we just need our kids to grow into men.

It is no use whining about the system.  We just have to become formidable and beat it.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
