I somehow missed Batman Vs Superman. Definitely gonna grab the Ultimate Edition in the next week or so. At least I'll see it properly for my first viewing.

PS. I liked the Masters of the Universe movie for what it is. I have a VHS of it signed by Dolph Lundgren.

Oh and did you see this?

Not bad for a fan film, defiantly better than the Hollywood tripe.

Hi Bartleby, did you end up watching the ultimate edition? I think it definitely fixed up a few flaws from the theatrical release. I actually really liked the movie, I thought Affleck was a really good Batman/Wayne and the warehouse fight scene was awesome.

The Last Samurai

Tom Cruise at his self indulgent worst (he produced the film as well)

If you like Z grade 50s sci fi ? Fire Maidens from Outer Space is on another level all together, makes Plan 9 from Outer Space look positively Kubrick-esq by comparison

As a DC fanboy, this pleases me greatly.

I'm gonna go grab a copy! Thanks Ethan :D

Hope you enjoy it Choke. Have you seen Watchmen? One of my favourites.

District 9 - complete with alien prawns and saffer accents. it's so bad it's a classic

I still think the 1957 sci fi film The Giant Claw set the bar as low as it can go for worst film! B grade actors trying to keep straight faces while delivering static dialogue, talking about a rediculous special effect passing for a giant outer space bird! Great movie in retrospect but still in the running for worst!

Santa Claus vs the Martians is pretty bad in a very good way.

I quite like District 9 and thought the directors most recent film Chappie was also very good.

Watched the extended BvS last night. You were right, it is a significant improvement on the original theatrical release. It fixed the biggest problem with the movie, which was that the conflict between Superman and Batman felt forced. The extended version really gives a lot more air to their motivations, as well as Luthor's plan. Even Luthor is a better character, with more references to his father and gods, the significance of making Superman kneel in front of him is enhanced greatly. The parallel between Luthor and Bruce is much clearer as well, with both being frustrated with the new paradigm of what 'power' means in a world with Superman in it. Both feel impotent, and react in different ways. Although this is suggested in the original, it's fleshed out in the extended version and the characters feel much more 3 dimensional as a result.

Showing Luthor behind the killings of bat-branded criminals is also a huge change. This should never have been cut, as it caused a massive outcry in the theatrical release when people thought Batman was marking people for death.

Wonder Woman is actually referred to as "Ms Prince", which is great, because in the original she had no name at all!

Superman saves a lot more people as well, and goes a long way towards showing the audience that he's a symbol for hope. You still don't get what I like to call the "Christopher Reeve tingle" when he's on screen, but it's significantly better.

It still has a couple of issues, but by fixing the central one, the other issues aren't nearly as bad.

The extra time given to the African incursion conspiracy was really worthwhile, to the point where I can't understand why it was cut. It makes A LOT more sense in the new version. I guess it was a time thing, with the extended version coming in at 3 hours.

Watchmen is also one of my favourite movies. Could talk for hours about that flick. Loved it.

I am still shaking my head over Suicide Squad. It was terrible.

Plan 9 was great viewing back in the 80's at the Valhalla Cinema in Richmond (Before it mysteriously Burnt Down)....

I really hate Frances Ha. A bunch of upper class kids whinging that they can't afford a $4000 apartment. Rent a cheaper apartment then you snobs. And give me some more plot, Baumbach.

Ultimate so bad it's good is Surf Nazis Must Die.

Biggest disappointment was How I Won the War. The novelty of John Lennon on screen wears off after two minutes and you're left with a desthly boring film.

Worst movie (also coming under the banner of "what did you expect?") is Adam Sandler's Little Nicky. It's buyer beware with anything of his but Little Nicky has to be seen to be believed.

I thought I would never see a film worse than Independence Day...well, on my flight back from the U.K. it finally happened; Independence Day: Resurgence.  Absolute garbage.

Was it worse than Captain America: Civil War?

Funnily enough I didn't mind that too much... I think it was slightly redeemed by the new Spiderman character who brought a little humour to the film.  The first two Capt America films were far worse.

The Independence Day films are a whole other level of bad.

Anyone seen a little Australian film called The Road to Nhill?

I haven't but I know of it. One of Sue Brooks' films. I take it you disliked it haha?

Yeah it was horrid, was hard to top how bad the first one was but this took the terrible and ran with it!

Affirmative. I'm obviously not the intended audience, but I struggled to sit through it and I think it didn't know whether it was a comedy or a drama. Some pretty poor acting and character work didn't help that. But, they made a feature film which is a massive achievement in itself, so respect to them for that.

"Lock Stock and two smoking barrells" The worst film of all time Shizenhuisen!!

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
