I loved the first episode. 2nd I didn't find all that great. Except when Theon looked as though he grew some balls (lol) for a second, but quickly turned into Reek. That was great.

Big Euron Greyjoy fan. Without Joffrey and Ramsay, I need a new [censored] to barrack for.

Needed more Hound.

I did enjoy Arya's comment about having baked a couple of pies lately, although it came right after I nearly had a vom watching Sam 'helping' Ser Jorah.

In other semi-related news the kids were watching Horrible Histories last night (I'm partial to the 'Stupid Deaths' segment myself, has a very catchy ditty), and I noticed one of the actors was Mike Gatiss (thanks IMDB) who played Tycho Nestoris from the Iron Bank. He has a pretty distinctive face, although also thanks to IMDB I see I watched him just the other night in Taboo and had no idea who he was.

Ok, back on track...needs more Hound.

Whoops. Had a great attachment to...attach. It appears I've used up my quota though.

For anyone like me who has a tough time remembering the previous seasons and all that happens there is a chap on youtube who goes deep into explaining each episode and how it relates to what happens in the books. His channel is full of cool GoT stuff, here's his episode 1 recap of season 7 :

Thanks so much for this. Keeping up with all the names is hard core!

this guy is a genius!!

Well that episode was lit.

You saw what i did there.

Queen Dani - please book your dragons in for some training with Aaron Davey. They have got to learn to zig and zag a bit and not go for the straight in approach.

Must have gone to the same coach Rickon did.

seriously - rickon - serpentine, serpentine !!!!!

And how about the party heading north of the wall - sort of a medieval dirty dozen....

( also I want a dragon for Christmas)

What are you up to little finger!

A gloomy castle like Winterfell is the perfect backdrop for Baelish peering around corners in the semi-dark.

Arya to wear his face at some stage? Or just slice him up?

Happy to see Gendry back, and agree with@nutbean that's an iconic crew heading north of the wall. Has the potential for some superbly profane and insulting chats around the campfire led by the Hound.

Why do they need to capture a white walker? Why not good old uncle BenJen? Or a child of the forest?

And whats with this cut throats dagger being passed around? Is it possible that it was the original dagger that produced the Nights King and it will show up in the very last battle with him?And does the marriage annulment mean that Jon Snow is actually the true Targaryan ruler? My mind is either GoT or Dees best 22. No room for anything else.

Didn't BenJen say he couldn't go south of the wall? If so, doesn't that rule apply to the other wights and White Walkers? Or can they just not pass through the wall?

My recollection of the original dagger used in creating the Nights King was that is was Dragonglass...could be wrong though.

Re the annulment, I think you're correct. Ol' Sam was too distracted by talk of steps, windows and bowel movements to pick that up...I wonder if it's in his subconscious though? On Sam, I assume he's head of House Tarley now...does he still have his old man's sword that he stole?

Is Sam still a Nights Watch? If so, he cant inherit. So then does that make his bastard "Little Sam" head of House Tarly? I read somewhere that Bastards can inherit if no other Legit progeny exits. Therefore Gendry has a claim too. I understand that technically Little Sam isnt a true Tarly but hey..

Ahhhhh stop it stop it stop it!!!!  Tooo many questions!!! It is LOST all over again!!!!

Can't wait for Arya v The Mountain...I think we got a taste with the sparring recently.

Then maybe she will finish her list with Cersie

Arya rocks my world.

When Nev Jetta retires she would be the perfect replacement in the back pocket.

Not to say we are strict in our household but Mrs Bean does have a habit of asking questions in the middle of episodes.

We have now made a rule - we give her a pen and paper and we address all written questions after the episode. Harsh but fair.

For the sake of matrimonial harmony I watch this show by myself.

Nailed it.

The Hound and Tormund need an Odd Couple spinoff.

I was about ready to throw the remote through the tv as I thought Tormund was going to die. I felt that vibe earlier then he was getting dragged into the ice I was all [censored] you George R R, not again. Thankfully the Hound is a mad [censored].

Great episode but I thought the uncle Benjen bit was stupid. Out of nowhere, and why not just get on the horse?

But anyway, zombie dragon! All is fair in war now.

Maybe Littlefinger will be done in next episode and Arya will use his face to find out who he's been scheming with...

Somethings brewing back in the North so that's my take.

1 episode left, fricken joke, only series that thinks 7 eps is enough per season.

Quite amusing, Mrs KikA kept asking the question, where did they get the huge chains from, bit of a coincidence isn't it!

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
