Got caught playing away with a young GWS employee in his first month there, not ground-breaking, but also not a great bloke.
Culturally a bad influence, but a good influence in terms of setting standards and mindset of continually seeking improvement.
What he'd bring us, I think we can get from better sources.

Got some suggestions on who we might target for this Mach5? Motlop?

I think this should be put away in the 'emphatic meh' basket.

I meant in terms of influencing the setting of standards & winning mindset.

Motlop I'd happily stay away from, but if he leaves Geelong, I see him going to SA.

Yes but as many Demonland posters are extremely self righteous its interesting to go back over the record to see who got it wrong.  I've stuffed up plenty of times in my calls.  Most supporters just want us to win more games & Stevie J would have certainly helped us do that in 2016.  There are a number of premierships that have been won with "discards" - you just need to pick carefully.

What if we had got him and Max Gawn fell across his leg in the first training session and put him out for the season.....hindsight meh!!

We have a lot of deadwood on our list.I see nothing wrong with reserving a spot that we can offer a one year contract to a top player who has been moved on due to circumstances at his former club .If he does not perform at senior level no renewal for the second year. Even if we hit it lucky with every second choice and get a player who consistently ranks 10-15 in our top 22 we are ahead.

If we happened to have an excess of our players at the over 28 stage who are demanding selection it would be different.

For all those who constantly espouse the youth policy it is essential that we counterbalance that strategy with key top up players. It would be wonderful to land a Prestia, a Dangerfield or the like but it is not going to happen soon.

An A-rated  half forward or halfback is the ideal.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
