The winner of the JJ Liston Trophy announced last night was North Ballarat's small man Nick Rippon with only 15 votes.

1. Jack Fitzpatrick

Tom Papley

Jimmy Toumpas

Thanks for your work KC.

Only 1 vote for the Toump. That'll send the nay sayers into a frenzy....

Thanks KC. Good to see Hutchins get a few votes.

You think he may be likely to get picked up by an AFL club next year like all the good Casey defenders (Silvagni, Faulks, Mohr) do?

Not a single vote for Riley??

Gee whiz, I'd say he can feel a bit slighted. Haven't had the opportunity to watch any games but he must've broken a few car windshields with his kicking this year.

Well done Viv, really worked hard and deserved his promotion to the senior team which he backed up with some good form at the end of the season.

Viv's votes came from 9 games, the winner got 15 from 18 games. Pretty fair effort. Salem 2 votes from maybe 1 game?

My mistake he only played 8 games

yeah, doesn't look good

but is not necessarily as bad as it looks

only 3 players out of 44+ get a vote in a game

winning sides get a monopoly of the votes

so it's is quite possible to play well and not get any votes (or very few). plenty of precedents for this

I thought McKenzie would've got more. It felt like he got 30 touches every week.

Not that I watched single game.

Daniel Currie on North's list (ruckman behind Goldstein) was leading on 11 after 9 games then got injured and only played 1 more full game for the season. AFL listed players who are borderline AFL standard should be dominating in this comp. Really starting to worry about Toump.

He did cop a few injuries and did not always play all games and Casey lost a few he played in.

I've loved your support of viv this year Samael. And viv has repaid your faith. A strong end to the year, looks more at home at senior level, makes good decisions and whilst no suckling is an excellent kick who can do the basics of putting to a teammates advantage

What more needs to be said?

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
