AFL - Round 3 (non MFC games)

Good defensive game to start the round...

Hope thenPies get smashoed

Saints are playing well without their inspirational skipper.

If Nathan Jones doesn't play tomorrow there is simply no excuse for us to not play well.

There is never an excuse for the team to play badly

Pity others have thought differently for so long.

Watching McCartin look like a deer in headlights makes you appreciate just how special Hogan obviously is given how comfortable he's been first up.

Colonel Hogan takes one grab marks....

Are the saints copping a raw deal from the umps tonight?

Or is my hatred of the filth clouding my judgement

Your judgement is fine.

Agreed, Saints getting a stiff run.

I don't see any problem with that ... :blink::blink:

Yep, agree... and similarly, as Douglas Bader was able to successfully pilot fighter planes having had both of his legs amputated, there is no excuse for any other multiple amputee not to do the same.

Edit.... and it seems we now do have an excuse as the Saints are trailing by 5 goals (and on further investigation, I have learned that there are no multiple amputees currently flying missions anywhere).

Not trying to stick the boots into a young kid. But McCartin's butchered nearly everything he's touched tonight. Just wonder if he'll cop the same flack that Watts did?

Nah I am sure we can blame Jack Watts for McCartin being crap .... :)

I feel a bit bad for him, it was much like the Jack Watts debut - horribly handled and poorly timed.

He didnt even know he was playing until 7pm.

In fairness, he's only had one possession so it's not a lot of butchery.

Dropped marks and fumbles count as butchery. He also got a free kick 5min ago and kicked it straight to the opposition.

What a terrible game of football. On this form we should beat COLLINGWOOD once Queen's Birthday rolls around. They're a very young side across the park now and without looking at all the numbers I think we'd have more established players than them.

Watts had a far better debut than this.

Watts had a far better debut than this.

yeah he did.

McCartins debut is definitely the worst debut by a number 1 pick ever.

Agreed re McCartin. Feel sorry for the kid and hope he doesn't cop it. But maybe Watts will finally get some slack?

He had one nice bit of play after he spilt a mark to recover and get the ball to Billings, but thst was it for him.

He did struggle a bit tonight but we are being quite harsh noting:

- first game nerves

- wet weather footy for a tall is never great

- key forward in last year's wooden spooners

- minimum inside 50's

- team smashed by 12 goals

- played on someone who's body has gone through multiple preseasons

Midfielders can impact straight up but kpf's always struggle early. I hope he turns into a playrr
