but he didn't hit above the shoulder

it was the accidental following head clash after the bump that caused a glancing blow which didn't even faze selwood

minor clash, deserved a free kick, that's all

harvey may be a plick but doesn't deserve to be reported/convicted for that or we'll end up with players missing games every week for trivialities

Must admit watching it it didnt look like much...just a bump

Looking at the vision again, to me Harvey hit Selwood, some distance from the ball, lined him up in a clumsily disguised effort to 'shepherd' and jumped at the point of impact. Can only point to one thing ...... guilty. As has already been made patently clear, unlike the old tribunal days, you can't use precedent as a defence. Harvey was dill for doing what he did and will get his just desserts. Mind you, the "finals discretionary power" may come in and save him. By the way, how's your nose Pedo?

He lined him up some distance from the ball!!!!

It was an off the ball incident Harvey also was in the air when contact was made. He lined him up. Yes it wasn't huge contact, but Selwood was jogging off the play.

so what.....a free kick

contact off the ball happens all lot through a game. it wasn't forceful enough to warrant a report/conviction

No. Harvey lined him up. Left the ground and half got him. He was aiming for more.

Under the current MRP rules it does. The incident, together with his carry over points more than suggest he's stuffed. You might not like the rules which govern the current judicial framework, but right now, that's what we have and we are stuck with them.

well my money says he gets off tonight

and that will be the right decision

My money says he will get off, but it won't be the right decision.

If Harvey gets off tonight then it makes the head a fair target this weekend and next.

rubbish. selwood's head wasn't targetted

Nothing in it, but I hope he gets two weeks.

Can't stand the little snot

If Harvey gets off tonight then it makes the head a fair target this weekend and next.

why ?

The only consistent thing with the MRP is their inconsistency.

rubbish. selwood's head wasn't targetted

Maybe, maybe not, but Selwood was targeted without a doubt, hence Harvey has to take the consequences, whether the ensuing contact to the head was accidental or not. The charge on Selwood was clearly premeditated.

premeditated or instinctive? that's a question for the jury

the accidental contact to the head was not forceful

watch the replay, selwood gave no indication of being hit in the head nor did harvey

it was only a little later when he felt a trickle of blood he raised his hand to see what it was

it was also the side of his eyebrow away from harvey

it doesn't take much contact to make an eyebrow bleed

selwood has come out himself and said there was nothing much in it

harvey was a dill and did the wrong think, but it only warranted a free kick

Festival Hall clearly bashed a fellow off the ball a few years back in a Prelim. the AFL stepped in so they could manufacture a Sydney Premiership, let me say the games corrupt.....

Some players premeditate so often that it becomes instinctive.

Don't like Boomer at all but I reckon he was a tad stiff and with Selwood's help could well got off this evening.

Unfortunately for him the system; the very system which provides the sanctioning power to the MRP do not agree, whether we like it or not. I'm afraid its a touch of the caveat emptor here.

Different system back then.

the mrp's inability to apply common sense, as against rigidly sticking to some formulaic process is legendary

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
