I think there's a mistake here?

Must be colour blind and got the white mixed up with the red??

I wonder who Geelong is going to want from us in the trade to get him to Melbourne?

Is that a fugazi reference?

I wonder what this deal will do for the "one for all, all for one" culture down there and Its well publicised pay cuts for the good of the team. I doubt he is coming cheap. It's been a long time since Geelong brought in a big ticket player on a long contract. Could be a repeat of Sydney which while still strong has lost that hard winning edge when it matters most.

He signed for a paltry 6 years on $500,000.

[censored] me. We can't even buy players.

Seriously! Surely there isn't something underhanded in the deal? Looks like they get the meat and we get the potatoes for that kind of money. Frank Costa must have thrown a lifetime supply of tomatoes to seal the deal.

He knows he'll have a media career lined up as soon as he finishes; I can see why he's not all that concerned.

Still, that's... unbelievably cheap for a player of his ilk. Even Selwood is on $800k.

And Howe wants 450-500k.

Surely he's talking NZ dollar.

I have trouble believing that. FFS he's a million dollar player. Something stinks if true.

Darren Lyons has given him a promotions job at the Council.

What I suspect, too. Only afl player I ever knew personally reckoned there was plenty of underhand stuff going on.

Doesn't make sense. He's left about $3MIL on the table for the 'privilege' of being able to play in the absolute hole that is the City of Geelong. Is the ghost of Dick Pratt working at the cattery now or what

i reckon the only thing he left on the table was some spilt gravy, & maybe the large inprint of last years security safe, that sat on there.

all the cream has been well licked up, & whiskers preened by now.

Perhaps $$$ is not everything ... Move on people ...

Afl have a real issue as all A grader free agents a re moving to bigger clubs not a great for the comp .. If that's what you wanna call this fixturing league!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
