Hey guys for a Fathers Day Prez I am getting my dad some Name a Game dvds:) Picked out the 2000 Prelim...

98 final round vs Richmond (farmers mark),

98 QF (smashed the premiers/what a flawed final system that was!!!)

87 Semi vs Swans

just after the Dogs final round game that got us in as it's not there.. if anyone has it on dvd-disc i'd be happy to pay for it. thanks.

ahh Robbie - you came out after half time and turned the game on its head.

ahh Robbie..........

87 the ABC had the rights to AFL & a now defunct organization called Sportsplay.

For these reasons sadly games from 87 are rare and hard to find.

The ABC didn't "keep" them. I have been through the vaults.

Wow! I'd forgotten how great the football was back then. So much more exciting than today's stultified scrums. No wonder crowds numbers are dropping now. I hate to say it, but i am starting to agree with KB! The parallels with Richmond's run this year are also very obvious.

The momentum that the Dees took into that finals series swept all before them, until of course, that fateful moment in the prelim. They were overrunning teams with a play on, knock the ball forward at every opportunity style. It was breathtaking and the they steamrolled their way to that prelim. they used the same style in '88.

PS they had some guys who could play as well.

I remember it well.

What i had forgotten and you could clearly hear is the Demons supporters chanting "Hawthorn" - who would have thought

With only 3 games to go, all against Top 8 fancies, the Demons face a daunting task as they return to the MCG when they play the Western Bulldogs. Who comes in and who goes out?

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
