GAMEDAY - Round 8

No it wasn't a great tackle by Watts, it is bare minimum standard.

I said it was good, and it was. Give credit where it's due, or you won't be able to criticise when THAT'S due.

Viney lining up for a shot on goal. Shame he missed it...

Melbourne giving up cheap goals 20 metres out. Won't win if we keep that up.

Dawes gread mark and goal. Too strong for his defender when he's one-out.

Pedersens kicking inside 50 has been deplorable

Jeremy Howe BOG so far

Terlich has been fairly terrible.[/quote

Gee he has a go though!

I'm feeling pretty strongly about Watts and Byrnes at the momentmoment... I'll hold for for another quarter...

Relax weve got ths....

Need Dawes and Morris 1 on 1 Dawes will kill him, make it happen roosy

That won't happen, we need to move it on quicker.

It starts from the switch down back, but as much as I love Dunn - he isn't the best decision maker or kick.

I don't want the ball in McDonalds hands, that leaves Howe, who is a brilliant user of the football, we need to use him, JKH and Jetta more out of the back line.

If we switch it like we should, Watts can lead up the wing and deliver it into Dawes.

Bullies are dropping a couple back, but if they focus on Dawes - Frawley could bob up.

Very tough conditions for skills... A few clean marks and some sure hands needed.

Yeah, Terlich, Pedo and McDonald let us down with their kicking.

Tom Mc is a great spoiler and Terlich is a decent backman, but they should give it off more.

I've been impressed by Jetta.

A good but frustrating quarter, we had the better of the play but didn't make the most of it. We need to start hitting some targets inside 50 and stop letting through such soft goals.

Terlich has been fairly terrible.

Are you for real? Much maligned, but really hard at it and gives us a lot of run. Cocked up that handball receive in defence, but I think he's been far from our worst.

Relax weve got ths....

Ban him.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
