2015 CEO?

Featured Replies

He is contracted until the end of 2014. This normal, if eh continues to improve our club he will be offered another contract and he will decide himself whether to take it or not.

He is professional football administrator and those jobs do not come around that often. And people in those positions often hang around for a long time as its a passion as well as a job.

So we'll she how his and chip's contract talks go :)

Or in other words " she'll be right " !

So if we're all in such a rush to throw out the baby with the bathwater why don't we offer the most succefull CEO Gary Pert an offer he can't refuse. Lord knows who he could bring as next coach !

Pert and Roos were both Roy Boys and might relish the chance of teaming up.

It could be a reason for Roos to extend.

They could both be persuaded it represents a chance to show the AFL that clubs can be revived and dont have to be relocated.

Drawing a very long bow, but I like the way you think.

My understanding from AFL sources is that Jackson is not going anywhere and he will be around for a while and he is enjoying the challenge at MFC. I did not get the impression that PJ would be flying the nest within the next 12 months.

Hope you are right.

Can't see why PJ would want to leave Melbourne. Since arriving he has been on fire: sacked a bunch of people. Got arguably the best available coach in the business. Has full backing of the AFL. Just needs another two years with Paul Roos.I think PJ could actually learn something off Roos.

Perhaps Ray Ellis or Paul McNamee might do a Cam Schwab and have a second crack at it?

Please come in out of the sun BBP

Why do you say Pert's the most successful CEO? I would have thought there's an argument that Brian Cook has been more successful at Geelong; or even Cook's protege, Stuart Fox at Hawthorn.

Interesting 'rumour file' this morning, suggesting that Hird may return to Essendon as their CEO! Anyway should be an interesting AGM this evening for dees supporters.

Being CEO of Collingwood is the easiest job in the AFL.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
