Hypocritical much OD?

it;s ok for you to whine on every thread about how crap this club is and does nothing good but If I decide to call out opinions that are flat out wrong I have to give it a rest?

I don't give a flying if anyone says Craig shouldn't be coach - I give a flying if they make points about his coaching which are blatantly wrong, bias/unbalanced and uneducated

So don't read this thread if it bores you

I am happy to continue to discuss Craig with anyone fairly - just offer a decent balanced opinion and add to the discusson and not just demand he not be coach because that's what a person wants. I know thats the norm on this site

unleash hell, what makes craig the best candidate? to me williams and eade are both ahead

Eade may lose the players like Neeld did. He may not be able to mentor them as well as Craig. Williams would be able to mentor them but there are question marks over his coaching ability, especially given the quality of the raw talent that he had at Port Adelaide. Neil Craig did very well at Adelaide and really needs a couple of good assistants to help him get the best out of our players.

Apologies Demonfan I did not mean to imply Craig was the best candidate

If you go back to my OP you'll see I've said I believe he is a solid candidate whos done a good job with a rabble of a list and club. Now I am not saying that he gotten results - I think he's been able to lead the club really well in the worst period I can remember of the MFC

My opinion on results under his tenure is that it would have taken a real genius to get much better results the what Craig has under the current circumstances. I've spoke to a couple MFC players who rate what Craig has done and would like him to coach in 2014

I am not saying he should be the coach - I will be happy with who the selection committee choose as long as they have done a through job and searched for the best candidate.

I seriously think Craig could be at the club in charge for 2014 and am happy to discuss it - I don't care if people say No I don't want Craig as coach, that is fine. What I dont like is opinions being discussed as facts... thats all

Craig is a known what he can bring to the club - Demonland seriously under estimate what he has done for this club

He should be considered IMO - I don't think he's the ultimate candidate I would love Roos or Clarkson

I alse believe Eade & Chocco could do a good job but this is not a discussion about them

Thats for the contribution THT

It's funny how Demonland chops and changes every 5 mns - earlier in the year in the 'Its time to go Neeld' Thread people argued until they were blue in the face Neeld was too hard on the players and lost them. Some of those same people think Rocket would achieve results

It really amuses me this site

Just to add Deefan

Why are Chocco and Eade in front? Please explain

Criag knows the list - he has (from what i've heard) built a stong repour with the players. He is highly respected by the club and the players. Craig has a strong coaching record and strong credentials as a developer of youth, which if you listed to PJ and the club now is no 1 priority.

So as Craig is know by the club as a positives in things the club wants why is Craig an outside???

Are we just going to copy every flavor of the month team? Port, TIgers, Geelong, Sydney???

How about we build our own path? Longmire and Roos worked wonders for the Swans as blokes from the inside who stood up, why can't it work for us?

As i said - I think eade and chocco are great candidates - but waht exactly puts them in front of Craig?

Fair enough, i respect your opinion on this, what's happened since taking over shouldn't rule him out entirely, he didn't have the opportunity to do much, i don't think he has actually stated that he wants the job has he? he may well not even be an option

and for your second point,

Rodney eade has coached Sydney and Bulldogs from being very poor bottom four sides, developed their talent, got the best out of players noone rated ( Lindsay gilbee ) coached Sydney to a grand final, coached the bulldogs to consecutive Prelim fInals.

Mark Williams: Well knows as one of the best developers of young and disgruntled talent of all current coaches in the AFL, has coached Port Adelaide to a premiership against the great Brisbane team, 5 prelim finals, 2 grand finals, won coach of the year twice, his influence at GWS and Richmond has been obvious even with him not in a senior coaching position

Neil Craig: Coached an underperforming crows team for eight years which included 7 finals series, two prelim finals, two top of the ladder finishes, my greatest memory of craig as a senior coach was the famous crow bots that were very unlucky not to win a couple of premierships for 2004-2006, however he has never been in a position of developing a lowly team, i think this will count against him, PJ wants an experienced coach, experienced isn't as simple as having been a senior coach imo, it's about having developed a list, the experience of coaching a list from the bottom of the ladder and helping the players develop and rise up the ladder, also Craig may well not even want the job yet, he does not become a serious candidate until he states he actually wants the job

all three are worthy choices but Eade and Williams for me, if nothing else a new face around the group will help with the destroyed confidence of the list.

Haha thats actually spot on..... I am not sure if Craig has made himself available as I think he suggested he had some demands before he would consider it

I do hope the MFC consider them at the very least before making an decision

I think out of all 3 Chocco rightly is highly rated - eade and Choccos records do speak for themselves there is no doubt

Would Criag have a slight lead due to his inside knowledge and relationship with the current players or does the MFC make a clean break? it's an interesting question and without speaking to the coaches I have no idea how to answer it

They only thing I really hope for is the MFC start getting things right. As I've said earlier I don't think we will get it too wrong with going for either of Chocco, Eade or Craig

You could argue his previous relationship both ways, sure he has been around and knows the players but what Neeld has implemented has been terrible and he was in a sense supposed to be the voice of reason, i'm sure the players love Craig and would love to be coached by him but at the same time i feel if say we hired Choco, the players could say, this bloke has won a premiership, knows what it takes, what it looks like, it's an instant level of faith and respect Craig or Eade couldn't demand.

While what you said isn't wrong I am sure all 3 - Craig, Chocco & Eade wold all demand respect

There are so many variables I am not going to pretend I know the right answer (not saying you are), getting the players up to be competitive each week should be our priority in the short term - All three could achieve that IMO

Craig just has a head start

here is the mail I heard tonight - Craig will be given the job. Brisbane were sniffing around but we got possessive.

i really hope thats not the case, i cant see how eade and williams arent better options

Haha... Oh man, everyone apparently "has the mail" around here.

So now we've given Craig the job (and bypassed at least Chocko and Eade, as well as a proper process) because Brisbane we're possibly going to interview him?

Mercy.

Yep 'stuie', the mail is that Roos, Eade, Williams and now Craig have the job, and also Simpson was a big chance. Hope the AFL is putting up the cash, first AFL club with 5 men running the show.

All I can say is I hope you're right.

I like Craig, but I don't see him as the forward leap that we need.

And didn't we nab our last coach with undue haste because we thought others would get him if we didn't?

It's not like it's beyond MFC to repeat the same mistake, but you'd think we'd have learned ... wouldn't we???

I wouldn't be surprised if Brisbane claimed Craig was their second choice, in order to make us want to sign him up as coach quick smart.

IMO the current MFC is just about uncoachable.

With player changes I wold love to see what NC can do.

I don't know if Craig gets the job but he doesn't get tainted by Neeld. He has already done what Neeld could not get near.

We don't get to just run the bus over someone for having the temerity of being at the club these last few years.

You're actually spot on the money Stuie

The MFC loves jumping the gun - refer back to Neeld and a lot of other decisions in this glorious 6 years - you seem surprised by the MFC fuking this up haha

In all serious though - I really like Chocco as well but Craig as a coach in 2014 isn't a loss

Normally Id agree with that - The MFC needs a clean start. But also for too long the MFC has been making clean breaks and f'ing it up.... disrespecting greats of the club and AFL greats.

From what I've heard (and i'd like to clarify I haven't heard anything about who is going to be appointed) Craig has brought fresh ideas and standards from Neeld. Apparently Neelds game plan changed from week to week where Craig has a clear vision

I don't buy the clean break fresh start take with Craig rfpc - not saying your wrong but I think your making decisions not knowing all the facts

The problem I have is the elephant in the room (or perhaps not exactly in the room) in the form of Dr. Bate. IMO, before Craig can even be considered, the club has to be certain that he had no involvement whatsoever with what was going on there.

For the record, I'm not accusing but the club needs to be damn sure that nobody connected with that little episode has a role to play going forward.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
