The way i see it here are the players that i think are capable of being part of a competetive team going forward...

Frawley

Garland

McDonald

Terlich

Trengove (im sure he is being hampered by OP)

N Jones

Grimes

M Jones

Gawn

Howe

Dawes

Clark

Hogan

Viney

Hopefuls:

Toumpas (hasnt done much but ithink he will develop under the right regime)

Blease (the potential is there but needs to take his fitness base to a new level and needs to become defensively accountable)

Watts ( the talent is there, hopefully the new coach gets the best out of him, i still see Goddard in him)

The rest of the list aint up to scratch, you have guys like Magner, Mckenzie, Bail etc who may try hard but are not to the standard required for a successful team down the track.

It's going to take at least another 2-3 seasons to address this and it will de dependant on bringing in at least 4-5 genuine future A grade players

Only 3, perhaps 4 mids on the list. The Swans have a dozen or so players that can rotate through the middle.

The irony compounds itself as under Daniher, we had too many mids, not enough KPPs.

Under a new regime, Neeld must be given the opportunity to see if he can coach or not.

....seriously? Still?

You're loyal to the cause mate, I'll give you that much.

Your JOKING, right?

You're.

No. Give him a midfield and then let's see.

I reckon the culture is almost sorted.

Neeld is building relationships with those who understand what it takes to belong and succeed in an elite competition. Those who chose not to are kicking off the dew in the ressies.

Thanks PMan.

I enjoy the debate with posters like yourself.

I just don't think he's been given a decent run at it.

Even Bailey got four....long....years.

There is so much i could say about this but what the point. True believers never change their mind and so much has been said already.

All I will say is there no point having the best coach in the league if the majority of the Supporters don't support him, but that for another thread.

I just hope that the MFC recruit players in 2014 and beyond who respect and actually want to play for the Club.

Better to have less skilled players who put in 100% effort each week, Now thats a team worth watching!

Funnily enough, we're both on the same page, except for the coach.

There's so much to sort, I believe that he needs more time.

Its great we can agree on somethings but I can not stop thinking at another year with MN will achieve nothing good for the MFC. But lets say for the point of the discussion things do improve for him in 2014 there little chance of him getting a new contract to go beyond that time as he is damged goods.

I don't believe he will be a Senior Coach for another AFL team.

He came in with a Hitler mentality and whilst a few have responded and progressed many already good players have gone backwards. Once you've lost them its hard to get them back. Even some who have progressed are playing with no confidence.

The quicker he is gone the better, im predicting after round 14.

The apologists need to understand that we are on a road to annihilation with this bloke

Back to the topic.

Sweet Pea I think you are close to the mark with your list.

Too many Dees supporters think our list is way better than it is and blame the coach.

I have little idea if Neeld can coach or not but when you only 14 AFL standard player it is next to impossible I would think.

IMO our list is easily the worst in the competition. It has taken 8 years to reduce it to this level.

It will take 2 -3 to make it even competitive.

Good News I have heard that the MFC has sacrificed a few collingwood supporters to the GOD Odin this week end so things should improve from now on.

You know it's funny you say that.

I reckon the culture has seriously improved.. Maybe under Neeldy next year well improve. Especially with another pre season under certain players. Im not saying he should stay, but it's a very interesting theory

associating Hitler with someone as harmless as Neeld is disgraceful

If true, this is just another amateur decision made by the MFC. Seriously, offering such an impure sacrifice will only be seen as an insult to Odin.

Dam that what the MFC has done wrong!

are these your thoughts and have you heard this ?

The way I look at our list:

Defenders: Ok, if Frawley goes we will have a big issue. Fralwey, Garland, Terlich, Tommy Mac (improving), Pedersen (ok, played a better last game)

Fowards: Had a massive hole 18 months ago, now fixed (apart from injuries), and looking good for the future. Clark, Dawes, Howe/Watts, Davey/Byrnes and Hogan (future)

Ruck: Has been an issue since White left (god he was good), but need to sort out Seller because I'm struggling to find him in our team next year. Jamar, Fitzpatrick, Gawn.

Apart from our midfield our team isn't that bad...

Yes and yes.

There are a couple at the moment who are working damn hard to improve. The coach has motivated them as has Jack Grimes. I'm an enormous fan of JT, (quality person) but JG is an enormous role model.

Consider that Collingwood scored 89 out of 122 (or whatever it was) from turnovers. Players are getting to contests and getting their hands on the ball. Mistakes relate to confidence and composure that comes with games, games, games.

This will turn around.

Maybe Markc should read Grimes comments on the MFC website?

Jamar is a fantastic hitout ruckman, but doesnt have good players to hit to. Moloney was amazingly instinctive of reading hitouts of the ruckmans hands, we just dont have that. Viney could become one of them

Sorry. What are we basing this cultural change on? I don't think any of us can really tell. Though there's certainly little evidence to suggest positive cultural change has occurred. If you're basing it on performance, considering we get thumped every week and drop our heads five minutes in, then I'd say the "culture" has gone downhill. Obviously though, it's not as simple as that. We severely lack experience, skill and decision making in the most important area on the ground and there may well be some positive signs we're not seeing as outsiders. Having said all that, cultural change is essentially redundant as a measurement of anything, if the on field performance remains uncompetitive.

He has no midfield because he chose to recruit Clark one trade period and Dawes the next while pushing out our main inside midfielder and not replacing him. So his own recruiting management has created the situation so he has no one to blame.

Yeah the culture is fantastic - trying is optional.
