Couldn't help myself but after watching the 2010 clash against the Lions I was thinking

What if

We had let James McDonald, Cameron Bruce and Brad Green play another year or 2 at the club

We had sacked Schwab instead of Bailey after 186

We'd kept Warnock (instead of Sellar and Gillies)

Rivers and Moloney had stayed instead of Rodan and Byrnes

Scully was never offered a contract by GWS

Clark, Trengove and Grimes hadn't been injured so much

We'd trade Sylvia for Hogan

Personally I think we'd be substantially better off

We need better management and we need it soon

What if we had of drafted every gun player the last 15 years.....

What ifs don't really wash with me. I'd rather look at why did we? Then if that was the wrong call ensure we don't make the same mistakes which is something we need to learn.

We as a club need to stop wondering about what if, concentrate on what do we need to do!

Some of the points you make contradict each other. We probably wouldn't have Clark if Scully stayed as we used the money for him to offer Clark.

Also how would keeping Bailey had made a difference? It was well documented he was not coaching at a high level (letting players skip time trials).

Essentially we should have got rid of him and Schwab at that time, and probably a few other board members. But that will be happening in the next year or so anyway just a bit late.

Hehe, sorry couldn't resist.

But you're right it is amazing at how our climb up the ladder back then has turned into a drastic nose dive, and largely as you said due to poor management! Fingers crossed things start to improve, god knows they need to!

We wouldn't have Clark and probably not Dawes if we'd kept Scully.

We'd also not have had Clark either way if Neeld wasn't coach. Are you suggesting ANY coach would have chased him? I'm not sure Bailey would have.

A better question:

Had Paul McNamee had stayed on and gotten his way re. throwing a million bucks at Jonno Brown, would we be better off?

The Schwab instead of Bailey scenario is kind of like swapping [censored] for [censored], really.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     DRUBBING by Meggs

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
