Lynden Dunn's Mum on the Radio

Featured Replies

Just heard Sue on the radio. She sits with the CHeer Squad. She was gutted like us.

Believes most of the people upstairs should move on. They are killing the players in her words

Was on SEN.

Just posted same on the Schwab thread. It says a lot doesn't it? The poor lady was in tears like many of us tonight.

Did she how they were killing the players.

She was very emotional but I think part of it was the tanking thing, remember Lynden was very upset at the time.

She wasn't specific but she knows many of the players. Very emotional phone call.

Good to hear this, not because I like to... But because there is a problem and we deserve to know more.

A-hole the board and start again.

Unfortunately we can all understand her frustrations but it is not a good thing for a players family members calling for the sacking of certain people at the Club. It puts Dunne now in an invidious position.

Very dangerous listening to a mother. Before you ask board members who are doing their best for our club to stand down you'd better have good alternatives.

Might give you a clue as to why the players can't get themselves up for line in the sand games.

Forget the board for the moment, get rid of the architect. Schwab must go.

She never actually called for anyone to stand down or to be sacked.

She did try to say that the tanking saga had had more of an effect than many may think and that she really felt for the players who had gone through it.

Also suggested that some had been thrown to the wolves.

People forget we played some good spirited footy in 2010, AFTER the tanking saga. Why did the shame only kick in for the senior group in 2011? Yes in hindsight the tanking was wrong but It's a poor excuse by the players

And unless Dunne has an inflated view of his own importance/skill level I would say that he has been given a fair go by the FD. He would not have lasted in the 22 at many other Clubs.

The spirit finally left down at Geelong in 2011, when the architect kept his job.

Mentioned that the tanking had humiliated the players.

FFS that was nearly 5 years ago. If they are still on about that then they should F off.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
