Just wondering what your first post was like.

The Range Rover is back in the carpark me thinks.

more a landrover these days i think - lotsa grunt, little class

Welcome back Range Rover. Didn't take long for you to show your hand did it...

Maloney has gone from supporters calling for his head to now being a saint and brilliantt midfielder.

Yep, let's get Silvio Berlusconi.

Maloney has gone from supporters calling for his head to now being a saint and brilliantt midfielder.

No. Its more that a replacement was not chased.

They did.

Viney and Toumpas.

First class, not downhill skiers.

Not talking about those 2 boys. They are kids.

To jettison a player of Moloney's size and not replace like for like is a very dangerous ploy, which we are witnessing right now.

I have watched as many Demons games as most of you. And one of the best quarters I have EVER watched occurred only two weeks ago.

Absolute rubbish Ron - clearly you haven't seen enough 'significant' quarters!

Yep, let's get Silvio Berlusconi.

actually Ron, someone with Charisma like the Weatherman.

.. a local, someone we all know, & who'll know how to put the media in their place?

# a Super Media Personality,,,, someone who can Think on Their Feet, & Speak in Tongues @ the Same Time,,,, !!!

suzie_byrne-Red-Symons-Superhero-Fin-Art

. . . . .

Benson - it's actually very 'simple' to a lot of these dudes.

You simply hire an 'experienced' coach to go into the sheds and yell at the players for a while, and then they go out and [censored] the other team (which incidentally is an elite sports team that has been trained to elite standards and is comprised entirely of elite players).

It's that easy.

Are you trying for the post with the most rubbish Ron, or does it come naturally!

One of the best quarters you've watched came against the weakest team in the comp, playing away from home and after they have finally become exhausted?

You are setting the bar low, Ron.

I support the club. I support Neeld insofar as he is good for my club. I don't support him just 'cause he's there. The hard facts are that, despite massive increases in coaching resources, manpower, spending and training, we are playing lazy, stupid, dispirited football. It is a HARD fact. Not a cutesy impression. There are lots of reasons why and it is unreasonable to think that Neeld is not one of them. It is also unreasonable to see that he can fix it, given he has shown no such ability.

I'll be rapt if we get without 15 goals of Carlton. My expectations are that we will not be competitive. Neeld has helped build those expectations. I'm far more angry at the Board than I am at Neeld - 5 years of decision making form them has led us here. Neeld is just not up to it. Let him go, Ron.

Well said 'timD'.

No point playing a sulk.

No point him getting clearances for Casey.

I predicted that Stef Martin will play the majority of his games in the QAFL - Moloney will be found out against top sides.

He is no loss.

I am not questioning that. Moloney had to go.

But there is now a black hole in the middle that Neeld did not trade for.

David Rodan has already been dropped twice, his career is almost done.

We have no big bodies in the middle.

Tomorrow shalt be ugly.

It's academic now anyway Jumbo, thanks to MN!

It's academic now anyway Jumbo, thanks to MN!

More like thanks to BM, Hardnut.

Both parties moved on.

Having said that, Jamar, Sylvia and Davey met BM for a drink afterwards - these latter names will be the next to go.

Culture will change.

Don't know about that. Think of it a bit like catching up with an ex-girlfriend/wife.

On the other hand, Davey will be gone in any case, and Jamar is signed. Sylvia ... has started to play with a bit more intensity, and at least he's not doing what Moloney did around this time last year, which was to have his agent start calling round to remind everyone that he was "available".

The thing that concerns me most is is therre any capacity within Neeld to actually get us going or as another poster suggests has he arrived at his limits ( i.e peter principle )

To those that laud what Neeld has done to date as apparent evidence of 'betterment' let me ask you, in all honesty who amongst us couldnt have achieved much of that also.

We all had a pretty good idea who needed a kick up the proverbial, we pretty well had concensus here as to who ought to be delisted or moved on. it really wasnt rocket science to achieve that.

As to recruitment that has been OUT of Neelds hands in the main and left to others. He can be neither lauded nor lambasted for that.

A very simplistic ( granted ) litmus of achievement coaching wise is to understand how well one extracts effort and achievemtns out of your charges whilst under your direct influence.

This team of our is massively underachieving. I can see no other to call to answer for this than the coach(s)

We are like the Titanic 5 mins from the icebergs. Logic suggests you try to miss them. The person(s) steering this ship whilst in their own minds may well be doing so with the very best of intents the course being sailed is frought with dangers.

How long do you continue to go backwards before hiting the brakes and changing gears ?

This is supposed to be a rebuild but it looks more like a ham fisted demolition job. As sydney handles their refurbs so ought we. Theres no need to reside on the bottom all the time. Many of our list arent THAT bad. On paper who wouldnt suggest we should be playing a hell of lot better than we are..

Please keep inmind all this is a business. In a business world if your CEO, your president you r manager of this that or the other isnt performing, or even if that are somewhat but the figures are damning then someome pays for this, some one is accountable and lives or dies on the merit of success.

Success....im sure none at teh club can remember that concept anymore...its been so long. Those that were supposedly brought in to influence by way of their experiences have in fact fallen vicitm to our malaise instead.

How long do you wait ?

Oh my god!

Yeah, shocking isn't it, that there could actually be another P.O.V.

Forgive my selective quote BB, but your comments are pretty accurate.

Rodan is doing exactly what he was recruited for.

as is Byrnes.

Pederson needs the big guns around to allow him to do his job.

Dawes hasn't fired a shot yet?

Hogan is coming along.

Fitz' is deeveloping.

dunn, strauss, kent, terlich, taggert, davis, spencer, gawn, jones, sylvia,

...good 'evans, wats goin on, our kids are startin to play! howes viney?

B)

Yeah, shocking isn't it, that there could actually be another P.O.V.

There are usually many POVs on issues; it's the particular POV that is shocking!

forgiven ;)

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
