WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN

Featured Replies

Given the way things have been going of late I'd suggest as much (if not more) comes to the notion of attitudes etc. I don't know these blokes from a bar of soap but I trust our club does. They obviously see a lot to like in Hogan ( apart from the obvious footy skills) hence their intense interest and desire to snaffle him.

Personally I'd love to see a player with Carey like ability on the ground in red and blue. I'm not sure a Plugger is the type we want these days.

People need to remember GWS also passed on bidding for Jack Viney, as realistically we were always going to take him and they could have kept us honest.

So in effect it is; IN: Viney, Hogan, Barry, 20 OUT: 3, 13, 26 which is obviously a win for the Demons.

I am happy to agree to dis-agree on this one.

You missed my question.

Can you guarantee we'll get Boyd in next year's draft ?

Since when should we give GWS concession, do you not remember last year? We are potentially giving them the Scully compo pick that they generated themselves from taking Scully off us.

they should be lucky we are putting pick 3 on the table rather then pick 4 to be honest.

If I were list manager (which I obviously aren't). I could guarantee a gorilla in next years off-season, not necessarily Boyd. Maybe Franklin as he is out of contract. Or Riewoldt who is also out of contract. Could also be a late bolter in the draft.

With mids fixed up this year I would go tooth and nail after a power forward one way or another next year.

That said that wasn't my main concern. My main concern is why are we paying 2 first rounders when we don't have to.

We don't even know if Bulldogs are willing to part with pick 5 and 21 for Hogan, and even if they are would GWS see that as more valuable as pick 3?

Hogan will be a great player in our team, I am not saying he wont be. What I am saying is we need to play hardball, put pick 3 on the table, if they don't want it then walk away and go with plan B and push for a power forward next year instead.

Pick 3 should be enough, I don't understand why we are considering adding 13 to the mix when pick 3 is almost impossible to trump.

If the Doggies offered pick 5 & 6 for Hogan and pick 10 (say) they'd trump our pick 3...

Guys reports are a deal has come through that jesse hogan will be a demon and pick 3 to gws.. thats all i know so far.

stay tuned!

So you would rather take Viney at 3, rather than use it in a Hogan trade?

The chances of us getting Franklin are less than zero.

And Reiwoldt is too old.

If we snare Hogan I'd prefer to pay less for Cam Pedersen as a bridge than pay more for Chris Dawes. I guess it depends on how confident we are that Mitch Clark will make a full recovery.

So you would rather take Viney at 3, rather than use it in a Hogan trade?

If you can prove the deals are related then this post may have some credibility to me.

Not old Riewoldt, was referring to the sherminator.

Please be true.

So instead of going after Franklin and Riewoldt next year we can just go after Cotchin, Judd & Watson instead. Problem solved.

If it could be proven we would be done for draft tampering.

If the Dogs do that GWS will have 1,2,3,5,6,12 and 20.

The dogs also just came out and said that they had a once in a generation opportunity to draft talent in tot he club with 6 picks inside top 50 in the press today.

Cant see it happening.

Paperwork being finalized now guys.. :)

Jesse Hogan will become a dee in 2013! ( well more so casey scorpions..)

where are you hearing this? what did we use on him?

Touche.

I got nothing against going for Hogan with pick 3, in fact I would do the same. I would even throw in pick 45 if needed to sweeten the deal.

Pick 3 and 13 is a different story.

Need to see how this plays out I guess as I would also prefer to use 3 and 13 for Hogan, Dawes(20) and Barry rather then just Hogan(3) and Dawes (13).

How do you know???

The chances of us getting Franklin are less than zero.

And Reiwoldt is too old.

and his best football is well in the past

To quote Harrington: "We rate him extremely highly. We think he's going to be someone you can really develop a team around and with. That's a big statement about a 17-year-old, but he's impressed us no end."

and his best football is well in the past

And theres about 0.00000000000000000001 percent chance of them ever wanting to come to Melbourne.

anyone else concerned about the ability of the MFC to retain a massively talented kid from WA for more than a few years?

Im calling it now, he will demand a trade to West Coast or Freo when he is 22 or 23 years old

Sad but true
