The type of club you want to support ?

Featured Replies

Not sure if others have pointed out but in the interview with Neeld (Part 3 right at the end) He is asked what is it that excites him about the prospects of getting this Club up the ladder and he says "What we're trying to do...where trying to get a club that one has a ruthless winning culture and have players within the place that have a game styles that stands up in finals and be there for a period of time"

and thats the type of club I want to see us as.

If the coach said, 'all i care about is that the guys enjoy their footy" but we won a heap of games i'd be happy.

Talk is cheap. Results are what i want to see from Neeld

Often I hear supporters (and players too, for that matter) say that they want the club to 'stand for something', to gain 'respect', to be 'ruthless', or some variation on these ideas.

That's fine.

But all I want is a premiership.

Poorly run clubs don't win flags, which is the point.

Fair call. The club is in the best financial shape it has been in for years, so it's up to the footy department now. I'll keep supporting regardless.

I reckon that's where we differ DemonWA, I am happy with the way the coach is taking this team and I would prefer development of our list into a team of ruthless winners for a sustained period rather then a short term positive win-loss record. But each to their own I guess.

But all I want is a premiership. One premiership. In my lifetime. If I get that, I'll be happy and all the losses we've endured won't matter. In fact, they'll only make it sweeter.

I agree to an extent - I crave a premiership and supporting the MFC for 25 years I just want one. But in reality I want the MFC to be the most successful club, I want to see us win one, and then another, and another until we sit atop the premiership ladder with more flags than Carlton, Essendon & Collingwood.

Premierships are as addictive as any drug Brian and I assure you, your thirst won't be quenched after one. You'll be more desperate for the second than the first, because after you've tasted one you'll see just how good the taste is.

I can recall the feeling of invincibility when I was a kid, we just beat everyone and I never tired of it; imagine going to the football every week expecting to win.

That is the exact feeling RobbieF I used to look forward to the Queens birthday game. It was a discussion about how much we would win by.

And Brian Wilson regularly beating the pies gave you a glow for weeks

Imnot sure.. I can only take to heart the ideas and passion that those who witnessed earlier exaltation at the hand of Melbourne teams can impart.

i almost saense the hunger is proportional tothe time youve had to wait.

then again...I wouldnt really know, like most here as a Melbourne Premiership is only something ive read about about as real and tangible as a Belzebub himself

Trust me one will not sate your appetite; to see the captain of your club lift the cup high will raise the hair on the back of your neck and you'll feast off it until the start of the next season. Then you'll want it again.

Keep talking....

Don't let the fairytale end there.

Imagine yourself at the G, we are playing Collingwood for our second in a row and we win in front of 98,000; now tell me you would still be happy with one flag.

lets get the first one....then we'll salivate the second.

Dreamings great , but we arent within a bulls roar of our first yet. Lecon un : Play winning footy, everything will follow

If it ends like '64 i'm all in.But in all honesty i'd take greater delight in ripping carltank or the bummers a new one.I was too young to remember 64 but unfortunately remember most seasons since.

So yeh at this stage i'm not greedy, one will make me happy.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
