I'd choose a different sport if tonight didn't satisfy you.

A better display of finals intensity you'll rarely see, it was awesome.

I hope North are prepared for it, they're mostly newbies and they could get embarrassed if the intensity was anything like tonight.

Unwatchable.... seriously...

Observations on tonight's game:

1) We're a long, long, long way off being competitive.

2) Nick Maxwell is a total and utter dog.

3) Sam Mitchell is a total and utter star.

4) Hawthorn are very likely to go all the way.

5) Umpiring is bordering on ridiculous. The game is being over-policed.

Embarrassing thread..

I can't fault the skill and desire of the players. I just wish players had to dispose of the ball. None of this "knocked out in the tackle" crap.

The game was great, but the first 10 minutes in particular were ridiculous in the number of players either tackled without the ball or not rewarded for tackling someone who had just thrown the ball up in the air during the tackle.

Great game. Finals footy is so much better to watch.

Anyone with any silly lingering doubts that Dean Bailey's approach to football would've seen us smashed in finals hopefully had those put to bed last night.

I would add another, Luke Hodge is a fantastic leader.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
