how else would we get him if not with picks or players?

You do realise he has played 13 games for an avg 1.4 kicks and 2.2 handballs? How is wasting a pick, even a 3rd rnd, a good idea? We would be better off keeping morton!

If he is THAT homesick then my original comments regarding his mental fragility stand

Mitch Clark wanted to go home.

Was he mentally fragile?

He also was quite emotional about Jimmy passing.

It seems that emotional fragility is either a bad thing or completely ignored when it doesn't help your point.

This is a miss analysis - I think you need to think about it again. If we where to put pick 4 on the table it would be reasonable to assume we have assisted Adelaide.

How is it a miss analysis? And why on earth would we put pick #4 on the table to assist Adelaide?

GC have to fork out enough needed and currently they don't want to.

It's worth noting that our pick 13 is really a "live" pick 12, as Daniher will be going to Essendon for pick 10.

Wrong. Daniher would go top 3 easy if it weren't for father/son. Pick 13 is pick 13.

I reckon he'd be pick one, but it still makes our pick 13 a "live" pick 12 on the basis of the remainder of the pool. At one point it looked like Essendon were going to finish in the 8 and he was going to be picked up at around 16. Them finishing outside of the 8 bumped our pick up by one.

But I understand what you mean.

Ok, I get what you're saying then.

But bugger me I wish we could have got him!

Simple, all you need to do is think about it. The key will be is a/ Tippett chooses to leave Adelaide. b/ What Brisbane OR Gold Coast have to offer or what they "could" obtain to satify Adelaide.

Adelaide & Melbourne would have a clear mutually beneficial outcomes in mind.

Gold Coast - Pick 2 aside which they may have or they may not have would have Caddy & to a lesser extent now Jolly.

Melbourne would have picks - 3, 4, 13

Gold Coast must make a massive decision on Viney FIRST. Hence, effectively ruling themselves in or out in Tippett & a 17 YO - If they bid for Viney, they are effectively ruling themselves out of Tippett & 17 YO.

Adelaide would have Tippett - seeking to find a obvious replacement in the SA boy Grundy

Brisbane would have pick 8.

Im sure Gold Coast can see the implications of our recent actions. The message is quite simple.

GC want both Tippet and pick #2. At the moment they are trying to use Caddy to get some lever-edge.

Pick #2 for Tippet is overs. Pick 5 - 10 would be about right. So question is how can they use Caddy to get that type of pick?

Caddy + 2nd rounder for Richmonds/Bulldogs/Carltons first rounder is only way I can see it being feasible, sadly I dont think those teams have expressed interest in Caddy.

You do realise that you are using his 2012 average where he played 5 games, 4 of them as a sub, and averaged less than 50 % game time for the year after he played 93% game time in one game against st kilda.

Secondly he was rated around top 10 in his year, so offering up pick 30-50 would be a steal for it in a draft where the depth is pretty average.

Thirdly he didn't get as good run this season as he told goldcoast earlier in the year that he was looking at moving back to Melbourne and he did not sign the contract offer from the goldcoast.

I don't see how wanting to come home is the sign of a poor football player?

And I don't get how you don't see value in a pick 30-50 instead of a player ranked 30th - 50th.

How is it a waste of a pick?

Again you are not thinking about it. But I've said my bit. my last on the matter is.

Put simply is A/ .... if GC want a good deal for Caddy & want to get an "unbeatable" deal for Tippet (if he chooses to go to Queensland) & a 17 YO - you cant have you cake and eat it too.

They will not bid on Viney.

B/ However, if the want a "poorer" deal for Caddy, Brisbane to have an "unbeatable" deal for Tippet & NO 17 yo - go ahead bid for Viney.

Go ahead GOLD Coast - You take your pick A or B.

Adelaide & Melbourne will have mutually beneficial outcomes. IF Tippett chooses to go home to Queensland.

That makes no sence. Draft pick #2 will not be used for Tippet. And where have they said they are keen on a 17yr old.

Whats preventing them from taking Viney at 2 then trading off Caddy as a package with their 2nd rounder and using what they get back from that to snare Tippet.

Best outcome would be for GC to trade pick #2 for Tippet + Adelaides first rounder. (Pick 18ish?)

Only way I can see pick #2 coming into play

I have said my bit - if you cant work it out that fine. It makes perfect sense.

GC cant use pick 2 three times - they cant bid for Viney, they cant use it on a 17 yo old and then retain in in the event of other trades happening to secure an un-beatable deal for Tippett.

GC MUST show there hand first if they want the best deal for Caddy, secure Tippett if he chooses to leave Adelaide & secure a 17 YO.

Their is only 1 way Gold Coast can secure all their objectives - DEAL WITH US!

Yes but they can bid for Viney then use pick 2 in 1 of the other options.

So technically they can use pick 2 twice.

I have no idea why you keep harping on about a 17yr old anyway, they have not shown any major interest in trading off pick #2 for a 17yr old. They have shown interest in Viney and Tippet.

Put 1 and 1 together. Pick #2 = Good for Viney, overs for Tippet.

Logical outcome = Pick #2 for Viney and whatever else they can scrummage together for Tippet.

Yes, but then they miss out on Tippett, we walk to Brisbane and provide them an un-beatable deal on Tippett if he chooses to leave. And they get a lesser deal for caddy.

What deal would you suggest? Especially if Viney is one of their objectives...

And why on earth would 'we walk to Brisbane to provide them with an unbeatable deal for Tippet'

This benefits us how?

No they nominate Viney we, take Viney at 3 anyway.

then they take Tippet, easy.

All i said was that it was possible.

Caddy's stats are really ordinary for a touted mid. Anyone actually seen many of his games??

What makes ppl think he is a 1st round pick aside from the fact he went at pick 7 originally??

Miss analysis? .

I like her but she ends to over think things

Then they have to cough up pick 2 !!!!!!! Hello - Adelaide jumping with JOY. You must read the rules you must understand them & understand the timelines implications fully. I will outline the timeslines for you.

BOTH THE RULES & THE TIMELINES WORK IN OUR ADVANTAGE.

1/ Father & Son Bidding 10-10.15 DAY 1

2/ 17 YO

3/ End of Free Agent - GWS & Gold Coast have NO free agents - we can access MORE picks. We have free agents.

******* 4/ One week left of trade week. Very important point.

Harrington has said, simple as the nose on your face " we will not take a player out of order. our fans would demand that of us." this says nothing about if we will or wont take Viney.

What it says is simple - if you cant work it out thats your problems.

if you cant understand the rules thats not my problem. If you are ignorant of the rules that your problem.

if you cant understand the rules thats not my problem. If you are ignorant of the rules that your problem.

I think I know where you are going, but a little fuzzy so bear with me.

IF GC want in on a 17yr old then they need to keep pick 2 up their sleeve, they don't want to be required to trade that out to secure Tippett.

In order to put a deal to Adelaide IF Tippett looks like leaving then they need to be able to put a pick on the table that trumps what Brisbane might have to offer.

Finally if Melbourne wants to be able to secure Caddy then they won't want to be spending pick 3 on Viney, however if the cost of Viney looks more like a second round pick then we might be more 'open' to becoming a player to assist facilitating things for Adelaide and GC...

Obviously we are not just talking pick 4 here, but looking at some player options still from Adelaide and GC, and possible exchange of picks as appropriate to secure a favourable outcome for all parties. GC is going to find us less willing to assist if they try and force our hand on Viney.

Am I close? :)

if you cant understand the rules thats not my problem. If you are ignorant of the rules that your problem.

What the hell are you talking about?

Perhaps you've got your posts mixed up as i was simply making a (poor) wordplay joke, was actually quoting another poster and to be honest have absolute zero interest in your random theories about our possible trading scenarios.

And for what its worth i understand the trading rules.

Ive watched Caddy play a few times and he didnt overly impress to be honest but I put that down to how long he has been in the system. If he turns out anything like his brother he could be a maurading viking as Ive said before.

But I think people are right in suggesting that GC wont bid for Viney if they think we offer or can provide them with the best options for Caddy.

morton was highly rated as a juniour, taken 4 in the draft...howd he turn out?

Caddy told gc last year he wanted out, still got plenty of game time

Mitch Clark wanted to go home.

Was he mentally fragile?

He also was quite emotional about Jimmy passing.

clark was still able to perform, toy hasn't...don't rate the comparison

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.
