Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cost too much. HBO decided to make Rome instead.

I like Deadwood being unfinished. It is a town you visit then leave.

Was it the writers strike they had over there?

Can you imagine if Jay clarke and Jon Ralph went on strike-I think the world would still turn.

Assembling the Deadwood cast was apparently a nightmare. Watch the wide shots...so much stuff is going on!!

A fourth series just wasn't feasable.

The Bugler is cool.

I Wanna buy his mix-tapes.

I want it as my ringtone

when we win matches he should join the boys in the room and play while they sing the song.

He should play at the grand final this year (no-one on here can argue that he would be worse than what the loaf put up last year)

He rocks the kazbah

There is so much wrong with this thread its ridiculous, I like the Bugler.

First off, there are at least 3 different people who do the bugling....

Second, to those criticising the performance I think all 3 play well, with good intonation and rhythm with a nice tone, all you keyboard heroes might want to try playing with a single mic in the middle of the MCG without being able to properly hear yourself while the music echoes out of the speakers around the ground with various delays.

Thirdly, we follow a sport where all teams run out to show tunes, spirituals and stolen national anthems with ridiculous lyrics and smash through crepe paper and you're challenging the solo call of a trumpet! In case you weren't aware, when armies went to battle they usually had a trumpet and a snare drum, not a 1850's American folk tune jazzed up to sound like a show tune from a 60s musical (I love our song but seriously get your hand off it!) and they never, ever ran through some crepe paper!

Fourth, Enter Sandman is a song about sleep and death, you seriously want to encourage our players to be more disinterested than they already are, also not all footy supporters love rock and roll, the footy supporters all being rock and roll loving pub junkies stereotype is far from accurate, there are families and many people of different backgrounds with diverse interests, Enter Sandman is not our team song.

Lastly, at a time where the standard for footy entertainment is Meatloaf the bugler is a welcome relief!

Its a point of difference, its our club song that we all love, and its a bit of fun, if you want to hate something have a look at the standard of football we put out, not the pre-game entertainment.

I'm pretty sure everyone here accept we're crap on field too.

The bugler is embarrassing. I actually get embarrassed when I got to MFC home games with friends from other clubs. It's pointless and unnecessary and is more embarrassing than it is uplifting or spiritual or anything important.

There were originally supposed to be 5 series of Rome, but it cost so much they cut it after two. (Which explains the silly manufactured ending to series two after so much effort was put into getting it right. Mind you, I still loved Rome.)

But we missed out on some cool stuff that could have happened in the next season, like the showdown of Al and Hearst and the arrival of a young Teddy Rosevelt.

Yes we did, but to me it was like i lived in Deadwood for 6-12 months. Caught the train and never went back....

There are some towns around Ballarat that have the same feel.

Melbourne and Ballarat in the 1850s wouldn't be too much different to Deadwood.

Thieves ,Whores ,Murderers and Drunks.

and thats just my Mothers side of the family.

quote '"titan-uranus"

i thought this was a no brainer !! obviously so..

THE " MMM" COMMENTARY team of dunstall & brayshaw had a day out on one G LYON when they heard it ;

and i quote;

Say it isn't so "gas" "OH NO" "OH NO" laughed for what seemed ages..

gas;, meekly replied " what's wrong with that "( obvious embarrassment & humiliation.).

& i might say speaking with some players ,who think "ditto"..

It reminds me of a skit by the "Monty Python" boys.

where they had a race for upper class TWITS,lge over bites, cross eyed, all decked out with bowlers, umbrellas & 3 piece suits running with knees together on the sides of their feet, all over the place..in circles( the players ?)..

an absolute crack up..

the supporters of these ideas ( all be it well intentioned ) JUST DON'T GET IT .!!

it is ridiculous & not well thought out, considering this is a " FOOTBALL CLUB" not a croquet club..

& cam schwabb is trying to ride the "pretentious"establishment gravy train.

young immature players DO NOT buy into such culture & never will.

they buy into a "boys & mates roughhouse culture "& respect for a strong discipline..

it is a FOOTBALL CLUB for crying out loud..

browsing through these posts,it is clear that the MAJORITY don't like the idea..& players don't either..!

as for putting some kind of fear into the opposition teams & supporters.

CRIKEY , GIVE ME A BREAK !!!

games r played between the ears.& as such..

it makes us look like easy beats & we don't disappoint...

p;s

as for the jackets ,they should be handed out to the older premiership winning players..!!

& or B&F WINNERS ONLY !!!!

Who appreciated them ..

not to the jurrah's ( who looked very sheepish )& cooks of this club..!!!!

You find our team song embarassing? Do you find the trumpet embarassing in all situations or just when it plays our tune? Seriously mate, Freo's song is embarassing, but there was a good chunk of the MCG belting it out last night.

When did I say I found our song embarrassing? Oh, that's right, I didn't.

I love our song. To me, it's clearly top 3 (with Richmond and Sydney). I love it, I sing it before each game and after each win.

I never said I found it embarrassing, I said I found the bugler playing it embarrassing, which you failed to comprehend.

Still currently in the Rat. The rogues from previous eras have been replaced however with a newer more sinister breed!

Can we get a Smoking Jacket section of the MCG opened up.

Similiar to The Smoking Room at the Bangkok Airport?

That was an experience!

You get a free pack of secondary smoke with each smoke in there .

No charge .

I like the rooftop bar in Changhi Airport personally .

There is a series/film just crying out to be made about the Australian gold rush. In many ways, it was more extreme, given just how isolated Australia was at the time (and perhaps still is).

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
