Like the look of Mcdoughou (Cant't spell for nuts) 2 Classy goals after six last week also Whitfield is playing well

Hey deers

Have not noticed stringer at all. So not sure what has happened there.

Nascent, agree mate. Toumpas is so balanced and disposes beautifully. I like wines but would go toumpas anyday.

Whitfield, can see why there is the hype with him at 1. Another vc bloke who looks like a bulocking darling type forward in tim membrey. Looks ok.

Membrey kicked 3 in the 1st quarter

My boy Oliver Wines showing them how its done.

I can see a potential Wines v Toumpas v Stringer thread happening

I rate them as

1 - Stringer

2 - Wines

3 - Toumpas

Wines beats Toumpas due to chemistry with young jacky boy, but thats my opinion.

Yeah wines racking em up this quarter. Solid young fella. Reminds me a helluva lot of a young col sylvia - that a good or a bad thing!?

AnY way we could take whitfield of gc hands?

No....but I will take Wines

Maybe if no1 bids for Viney, we could try trade pick 3 & 4 for him.

GC will be unbelievable in a few years, Swallow, O Meara and Whitfield in the mid-field...

Fair call re wines/stringer/toumpas.

I see it diFferently:

1. Toumpas

2. Wineds

3. Stringer

But reckon I'll defer to todd on viney on this one!

Added note, wines def picked it up a notch in scond half - v impressive.

Game overall a really good standard. Some impressive kids I reckon will also be picked up later in draft.

If Wines is good now imagine how good he will be when he "matures"????

he might need to develop with Sellars-Viney could give him a good start ,and then he could shape himself around Glass .

Edit :sorry if those jokes are not your vintage.

But if you dont like them it's probably a case of sour grapes.

put a cork in it biff !

Yeah viney listed as 35 in record here but I reckon he is 28. Can anyone confirm for me?

yep definently 28

Thanks watts up. Viney going well but surely only worth a second rounder ;-)

He's not worth pick 3.

viney has been quite but shows he is a quality player. but to the melbourne football club please do everything you can to get oliver wines the kid is going to be a star! him and viney would be a masterstroke! reminds me of mark reccuito with his hardness and kicking.

He's not worth pick 3.

NO he certainly isn't.

*wink wink*

watched most of both games thus far. real stand-outs in the first game for me were:

grundy (sa ruckman)

stringer (vic c winger / half forward / 3rd tall forward type)

wines (vic c in-and-under midfielder)

toumpas (smooth moving sa in- and outside mid)

kennedy (small, zippy sa outside mid / small forward)

membrey (bullocking vic c third tall forward type - be interesting to see where he fits in the afl)

whitfield (vic c ball magnet - beautiful off both sides)

based on what i've seen of the vic m-wa clash thus far, no way is viney worth #3 in the draft. still hope we get him for that second round pick tho!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
