My Email To The President

OK, I have seen all replies during the day, some people I have offended, others probably half half understand my frustration. To put my frustration in perspective, the last time ran onto the MFC exitied about about a demon premiership was an excited 17 year old in 1970 as a member of the cheer squad when we won the reserve premiership with players like Paul Callery, & Ray Biffen. This was 6 years after our last senior premiership and 42 years on there is no positive sign of one being immenent. As the years go by one of the things on my bucket list (A Demon Premiership) is nothing more than a dream rather than any form of sound possibility in the foreseeable future.

Was my email appropriate in terms of some of its content and who it was directed to - probably not.

Was it appropriate that I air the email on a public forum - probably not.

But unlike others who appear to enjoy taking cheap shots I am man enough to admit that it was the wrong thing to do and am sure that more than a few of you have done things that in reflection or hindsight you would have either not done or handled differently.

As you get older sometimes emotions get the better of you and in this case, the current plight of the MFC is probably the lowest it has ever been even in some dark years when we ended up with the wooden spook. Probably the only other time I been nearly as frustrated was at the MFC meeting many years ago when Tiger Ridley at Dallas Brooks Hall tried to encourage us to merge with Hawthorn, thank god that never happened.

Is the level of frustration adequate justification for what I published - probably not, but trust those anywhere near my age and length of support for the Dees may deep down partially understand..

.

Fair enough reply.

DH I was one who kinda knew where you were truly coming from...but I question my urges of getting my 2 1/2 yo son to follow us in the future, and to that I say [censored] yea, good times ahead..... ' I remember that yr son when MFC were dismally horribulus and we couldn't win a game until Round 9 of that yr in 2012, it twas a pleasure to knock over Carlscum at there home game but our home ground..'

Probably your son is going to have a lot bragging rights in years to come.

I started to support MFC in 1947 because they were dismal that year as well.

Sort of an underdog thing as a 5 year old and boy oh boy did I give some bragging in the next few years.

i am a neeld fan ( so far )

BUT

all the angst & cheap vitriol replying to this post is infantile & pure high school..

DH HAS every right to vent his spleen & frustration whether it gets seen by DMc or not is irrelevant.!!

its human nature..its like listening to your spouse go off half cocked.& then have make up sex..

for crying out loud any supp; has the right to vent. & should do so..

( that's what this forum is for !! )

taking it too seriously & taking it as a court statement says more about the vicious responders than the poster.!!

hiding behind a comp. screen to throw pathetic insults is less than-----ordinary.

whether u agree or not that's the point; letting off a bit of steam is the least any long time suffering supp. should do.

considering supporters r totally ignored anyway...supporters r a commodity to be used by the club suits and thrown a bone occasionally.

& dished up the standard, boring & repetitive cliche's.ie;

short term pain long term g??? ( should be honest -short term pain long term pain )

in it for the long h???

stick f?? bunker down.

we need the continued support of the s?????????;

...

this has been a continual state of affairs....for too long ( read the parting comment from G SZONDY in 2003 )on demonwicki..

10 years on & the same issues & points fester...

it may not be one particular suits fault BUT it is a factioned club with an L & R power play..

AGAIN BUT, the CEO & THE PRES. r in control & have to take full responsibility...of their decisions or lack thereof..

unification starts at the top.

MELB. SUPPORTERS r too polite & politically correct.to the club.when efforts r pathetic on field.

rich .supporters .spit at the coach going off the ground & leave bags of manure on doorstep & tear up memb.cards.

ess. supporters get up in arms & scream abuse & force change and get results..

carlt. coll have similar records..& get change & demand results

but melb.r simply too polite & respectful over & over again..& take it up the kyber then told to suck it up & support..

well its about time supporters frustrations r heard. & let it all hang out with good & bad discourse..

blind faith is ridiculous..

Yes, I am a nazi because I have criticised someone's personal correspondence that was voluntarily made public...

So you are not a Melbourne supporter then? I seem to recall reading somewhere that Melbourne supporters are too polite and politically correct.

Godwin's Law. Mods, if you please......

Invoked after just two and a half pages of discussion; is this some kind of a record?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
