Bring Back Brock?

I understand the sentiment, but wouldn't think this is terribly logical or practical.......

And I certainly don't think or want this to happen.

I don't want him, we don't need him, if we still had him he would be playing but we have players who will fill his role in the future. I would rather give game time to tynan and viney next year who play the similar role!

If available I would Rookie list him in a flash. Was meant to train hard at the Dees previously and probably has learnt to train even harder along side Judd, Murphy et al. Might be good to bring that into the club.

I don't think it will happen and nor do I advocate it, but I concur with Oucher with regards to some of the childish responses on here.

McLean isn't what we need, because he's not creative enough at the stoppages and he offers more of the same. Would he be in our best 22 right now ? I reckon he probably would, but that's not saying much. McLean was never any good after 2006 due to his body/ankle. I reckon he is finally in far better shape physically and he's noticeably trimmed down. He's knocking on the door of a stunning midfield at Carlton, so he's not going too badly.

Some laugh at his leadership qualities. I remember a 21 year old donating $10K to the club when plenty of others wouldn't. At a young age that showed leadership to me. I also know that he's spent the last few years at a club with the invaluable experience of seeing Chris Judd and the likes of Murphy, Gibbs and Carrazzo on the training track. He'd know far more about football and life than when he was at Melbourne.

It's not the silliest suggestion I've read on here even though I'm not in favour. I suspect he'll be a Melbourne person when he finishes at Carlton.

In what way was he a "leader"? I think you're stuck in the perception everyone had of him in his first few years.

On field determination, off field good bloke, openly supported the club at debt demolition - all the leadership traits that any AFL leader shows really

Although the notion of bringing him back is pretty silly, i dont think we should have let him go. He was a leader and could have helped the club over the last few "junior-less" seasons

DemonWA = you have absolutely no idea! We got Gysberts for Brock!!!!! Brock was great in his day but the game has passed him by. At AFL level he is an out and out dud!!!! Gysberts is one of the few players on our list that has the ability to become an A-Grade midfielder.....

If Brock donated so much to the debt demolition then why did he leave us not long after?

I'm not bashing him but I am curious.

At the time we were stockpiling low picks with guys like Scully / Trengove to come in

Brock was battling injury / pace

Perhaps he saw the writing on the wall and wanted a nice contract before his time was up?

You're a walking contradiction DemonWA - first you say it would have been better if we kept Mclean but at the same time you're happy with Gysberts!!!!!! You can't have a bet each way here. Either you state Brock should have stayed or we were better off without him and getting Gysberts was the best result! Pick one opinion on the matter and stick with it!!!!!

What we do is have a 60m footrace on the starting line we have Jones, Magner, Moloney, Couch, Gysberts, McKenzie, Morton and Brock, if Brock can beat anyone of these players replace them with Brock. It will be one hell of a race, we might even start Black Cavier at the 1000m mark she might still beat them all home

Dont you remember we didnt trade Brock. He wanted to leave because he thought it was to far to drive to Casey and this would affect his body. Porr guy. I liked him at melbourne because he was tough but I wouldnt want him back. He is to slow and definitely wouldnt be in Neeld's plans.

A 10m foot race would be much more relevant and probably much more telling.

I'm trying to remember who we got with the draft pick we got for him. It was Gysberts wasn't it at 11. Wouldn't swap that deal for anything. Let's hope he picks up once he's back from injury.

it would be just great to see Gysberts injury-free to see if he can emulate what he showed us all in his first two games.
