GAME DAY - Round 2

Featured Replies

How many times do we have to get freed for high tackles before the players learn to tackle the body????? Bail managed it twice in a couple of minutes!

Jones is playing well - the attack on the ball is there by most of our players we just need a lift in intensity and some class. Trengove, Grimes, Watts have hardly touched it. McDonald again, doing well down back.

its simple..if we are putting players behind the ball we have to be patient going fwd to allow our players to get fwd.

Nathan Jones you just burned an inside 50.

We are decidely hopeless at constructiing an I50 that results in a mark and a set shot.

We are the laziest, most concentration-lacking, bunch of unorganized players I've ever seen at AFL level

thats Tom?

Lots of out of bounds on the full was our problem in the corresponding game last year. I reckon we'll have about 7-8 this week too.

Yeah Tom haven't sighted Joel Mac.

Would be nice if we could spot someone up inside 50. We get to about 80 out and just bomb it on the boot. Like watching juniors play.

Embley in the hands of the trainers with a shoulder problem.

Another out on the full. I know its a narrow ground but this is just stupid.

There's another one.

We're up to 3 now.

Forward line can't do much when they have the ball just bombed in the air. Pinpoint some passess and get some numbers around the ball and we might be in danger of kicking a repsectable score.

To me, it looks and feels like the life has been beaten out of us during the preseason

Do we ever apply a "hard tag"?? Scott Selwood running absolute riot.

Frees are 10-1 to the Eagles. Shouldn't expect any better over there.

We are extremely lazy. So much for that 'big' pre season. We don't man up, we don't Play in front and we have no second efforts. These are the basics and we can't even do that. Don't worry about a gameplan until we can do the little things.

Joel - can he ever hit a bloody target?

Seems that the game plan forbids them to do that.

Would love to see a stat on the number of frees we have given away for high tackles that quarter.

Joes mac terrible.

Whats with the false aggression and giving away high frees.

watts is out of his depth in that half back role.

Frawley is a shadow of 2010.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
