Dan Nicholson suspended for 1 week for drinking

Nice montage. It reminds me of 'Guernica' - Picasso's famous painting of the place that was decimated during the Spanish civil war.

Things aren't that bad at Melbourne...but please, can we just have one week where we can have some good news about the club.

This is nothing but a diversionary tactic by the powers that be at the club to deflect attention away from some of the bigger stories of the week.

Nicholson has obviously been set up as a patsy and there is no way he can be guilty as charged.

I checked through the MFC official injured list for the past month and his name was nowhere to be seen. Therefore, it follows that he could not possibly have been undergoing rehab and, as a consequence, is an innocent man.

Not sure if you are being serious here or taking the "P", but a rookie is hardly a diversionary tactic unless your name is Majak Daw and your club looks like they are trying to hide something, red rag to the media.

If you check the Casey reports you will see that one of the posters had seen Nicholson in a moon boot at the match, I don't think it is standard club apparel so you can take it that he was indeed carrying some kind of injury and in rehab.

He should drink before a game, might help him kick straight.

just out of curiosity what are the drinking rules (rehab and non-rehab)

My understanding is that if you are playing there is generally no 'drinking rule'. Players certainly go out after games but in the last few years I think curfew's and such are starting to be enforced a bit more forcefully. On the same token if you pull up sore from the game you revert to the rehab rules which from my readings suggest no alcohol.

Realistically no alcohol wouldn't happen if a bloke who just did his hammy had a few beers at home they'd never know, but it's just as much for social image that an injured player shouldn't be at the clubs sinking beers.

Ta.

Be interesting to know the drinking curfew rules. Night before a game obviously. Also probably are curfew hours for out on the town depending on day etc.

Mooney said when he played early on, he did his ankle and instead of rehabing he went out for a few drinks. He said, that drink session affected his recovery and actually ruined his year. He also said if you are serious about your football you don't drink when injured.

Reckon he's taking the [censored]. The failure of the club to provide accurate injury lists has been a long running sore point of a number of posters on this site. We learned more about Nicholson's injury from posters here than from the club and that sort of thing happens regularly with player injury reports from Melbourne.

When I was living in Dublin I went to watch my club play a match after being left out of the side. I'd had an all night session the night before and about 4 hours sleep. When I rock up I get advised 2 lads went down with food poisoning so could I play. I went home got my boots and after throwing up during the warm up played out of my skin even scoring from full back, I have never been able to emulate that game again so maybe you are on to something there Deestroy All
