I thought the genial Matt Burgin was an excellent interviewer. I fear our loveable Robbo will lay on the platitiudes and bulltish big time.

So what if he adds a bit of flair in interviewing or mentions how many he kicked in his time at the G ? I'm sure the players will feel comfortable nevertheless. Burgan may just have other things on his plate that he'll want to attend to.

Tbh, I always felt he'd eaten something before asking questions, like something was repeating on him; wishbone stuck in his windpipe or something. He was very serviceable to the club and it brought a bit of professionalism to the website.

Re: Bailey leaving, I'd say it's just a coincidence.

Hang on RR, you're going off a bit half-cocked here. I have no idea about the relationship of Stynes and Robbo, I don't have evidence and I don't claim to. One day we may have a beer and we can talk about the other relationship.

Perhaps I should've made the humble pie comment last year when Robbo was doing some match day stuff with the Club, especially considering that DB was still coaching at that stage.

Your last paragraph is ridiclous. Why would I come up with a conspiracy theory on Neeld? Why would you even say that? Actually, what are you implying? Because the first part of it is 100% correct - that players didn't like getting told. Where's the conspiracy theory in that???

I would have thought your claim on Bailey and Robbo was half cocked and as informed mine is JS and RR. FWIW, I have heard Robbo a number of times on radio. He loves the camera and loves a mike. He likes to entertain. I think DeeTV would be good for him. But unfortunately he was not the most thoughtful or astute speaker when he was a player. I have no doubt Robbo loved MFC. But he seemed to do so on his terms at times. Some of comments in public whilst as a player reflected some of the adverse aspects of him as a player.

When Bailey came to MFC, Robbo, Yze and a number of senior players were at the end of their careers and were struggling to make a contribution to MFC onfield. Bailey did what any sensible coach did and cut the deadwood. Bailey also too the fall and tanked the side for picks. These actions he took with the full knowledge of the MFC senior management. I note that when Robbo (and Yze) offered himself in the PSD, there was hardly a fever pitch of bidding by other clubs. I dont why you initially wanted to promote any alleged Bailey/Robbo rift. If there was any hard feelings then the player needs to get on with it. If you think Bailey was harsh I suspect Neeld would have been harsher in the same position. So if you are going to push bad blood with Bailey and the players, I am sure Neeld will spill lots of blood on the list in the next 2 years. i would be surprised and disappointed if Neeld didn't.

You may be right on rethinking your humble pie comment. And happy on the beer! :)

I was heavily on Bailey's side re. list changes. And in terms of relationship, I'm only going on what I was told by an ex-player that was involved at the MFC during Bailey's tenure.

I hope Neeld makes similar tough decisions when required, and like with Bailey, I'll most likely support such decisions.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
