Mick Malthouse was asked on "The Game Plan" tonight who he thinks can get into the 8 next year, he said Melbourne depending on who they get to coach, then he was caught winking at the other guys on the show. I wonder if he knows more than he's letting on???

Didnt see it....interesting though. Tongue in cheek perhaps?

He also said that he'll be watching the situation with interest but fom a distance.

I can't see it happening, but I won't be disappointed if it does.

Yeah, I just saw it as him being cheeky. Try not to read into everything.

Fairly evident that MM's future, even next year, is not in Media. He will never be the voice of a football club. He can only be a technician of football technology and training, which he currently is not!

Give me one reason why MM should be paid a destructive fortune to coach the hereditcally greatest and oldest sports club in the world.

We get it Dees Dayz. You don't like Mick Malthouse. How many more posts do you want to express that fact ?

Because he is the best!

If MFC manage to get the services of Mick Malthouse, i'll buy Double the amount of memberships i normally do!

The Board knows however much they pay MM, they will get a large chunk of it back through increased memberships. Including myself (upgrade)

Because we got beaten by 186 points and need the best coach going around?

I have a reason

He has taken teams he has coached 6 times to play in grand finals and has won 3 premierships.

If Carlton lose to Bombers then Ratten will go and Blues will get MM. Their CEO has history with MM. Can't barrack for either team but hope Blues win.

On that basis I don't think he's the best candidate. Didn't Mick's team get beaten by close to 100 points last week?

Agreed - because he shuns the media and I could never ever see him being a special comments man on radio...wait a minute..........

That agrees with the rumour I recently heard:

I'm rather keen on the "if Carlton lose to Essendon Malthouse will coach Carlton in 2012, but if Carlton beat Essendon, Malthouse will coach Melbourne in 2012" rumour.

If it's true: go Blues!

yes....cant but ask , was he there that day for the purposes of Radio, or to observe?

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
