I've been doing a lot of that lately too. Must be something in the water.

I still can't believe that we're 4 years into a rebuild. I think it's becoming more evident that we need more than high draft picks with potential. We need a culture change. A winning culture, win at all costs, a thirst for the contest, some passion!

Werribee wanted it more and played consistently with intent for 4 quarters, Casey didn't. It looked all a little too hard for them from the 15 min mark of the first quarter. The previous weeks demolition by Port Melbourne took the sting out of their tail (excuse the pun).

Bate may have worked his butt off, but it didn't appear like that. He was ineffective and well held.

I thought McDonald battled hard and showed some dash out of the backline early, but his teammates weren't helping him. Maybe Wall. McNamara going off early didn't help, but you could see early Werribee were the team to advance to the Prelim.

Appears if you don't tow the line and back slap failure the sycophants will circle in blind support of rubble.

I commend the club for getting off field in order it's been amazing.

I wouldn't say that we've completely contained our off field issues if we look at what happened around the time of the Dean Bailey sacking*. There remain the issue of the Andrews Report, how it was dealt with and the rumblings about our CEO position and the head of the football department. I have no idea what's going on there but the situation isn't one that inspires comfort or confidence and things need to be resolved. There's also the leaking of information to the media and whispers about the goings on at the club that should be kept in house.

On the field we have many issues to deal with and the poor performance of our blokes at Casey today reflected the club's on field woes throughout the season. However, I'm confident that many of these can be overcome by the appointment of the right man for the MFC coaching job (and his assistants) and some clever and creative trading and drafting.

We need to resolve the Tom Scully Saga © and/or get the best result out of whatever compensation we can get out of it but IMO the key to the future is the coach. I think he needs to be a strong personality who will take control and do things his way which will hopefully be different to what we've had for the past four or five years.

* I didn't have a problem with the Bailey sacking per se but I think it could have been handled a hell of a lot better.

I really have to question the leadership at Casey after watching today. The message from the coach at quarter & 3 quarter time was mono tone. He wanted the players to take the game on but there was no run and the safe option was taken all day. Werribee played a man (or two) back all day, plugged the space in front of Fev and then ran like cut cats forward at every turn-over. Inexplicable really how inept the whole performance was!

It was like watching the dees all over again.

I watched the game last night and thought we are so far away from that level it makes you weep.

There's always going to be some dislocation with players being promoted to the AFL side, others coming down and others back from injury. Makes it hard to have a settled team especially coming up to finals.

Personal pride is True. But in a side with some not wanting to continue the season & others proud but wanting out to further their careers, and some just in & out like jacks in boxes, the side is Too jumbled to have any stability and cohesion.

This years side had the ability at it's disposal to take the Flag. But we trashed It & the dreams of those who served the team the whole year. On & off the field.

Thats True.... And it's also True why amalgamated VFL clubs Don't Work. Different agendas. It will end in tears & bad feelings all around.

I feel for those who worked they're butts off all year, the Casey 2nds players and the Casey staff & volunteers, senior players & all the supporters who get 'SHAFTED' in all this 'gamesmanship' !
