Straight 6 or 3 and 3?

We are looking for a new coach and the reported offers being bandied around for coaches out of contract at seasons end are in the vicinity of 5-6 years for the same amount in millions of dollars.

Should we be offering the straight six or should we be offering 3 with an option on a further 3 being performance based?

A straight 6 I think for someone like Lyon or Clarkson(now off the table) would be the right call, however the likes of Malthouse or Eade may see it as an early retirement present and not have the same intensity being they are elder statesman.

Would like to know what fellow Demonlanders think?

To pry someone out of a good gig you must pay more or longer terms. Simple. Don't forget even with our list and it's potential, the structure is pretty shaky and would not be overly comforting for a coach.

We should swing for the fences and get the gun coach we desperately need.

What does an option of 3 years mean after the 1st 3 years? Who exercises the option? If it not the Club then its mug clause. Just give him 3 years and negoatiate in the final year for a further term then.

If it was MM, i agree you would make it 5 years.

I'd like to see a 3 + 3 term, for anyone. That gives us the options to stay in cycle with Clarkson and others who may be around.

With our young list growing and maturing we will be in a Much stronger position in 3 Years than Now. And we'll be in more demand, from those wanting in.
