The Tom Scully Saga © continues ...

At the end of the year what will be will be and none of us can change that!

Go Dees!

Well said.

We have bigger things to think about than Tom's contract, and that has a timeframe to be resolved, and one of two known eventualities ie. he will go and we get the two picks on offer, or he stays at around the reported $3m over 5.

The question of the restructure of the FD is the issue that has taken my attention...

Will CC stay?

Will our assistants be shown the door?

Will Todd throw his hat in?

Is Malthouse interested?

My inklings?

Yes, Yes, No, and Yes.

But this is for another thread...

Thanks.

So the GWS list manager says that they gave Tom Scully an offer last year. That makes Scully's press conference a farce.

However his management group might not have given it to tom scully, when answering question scully might not have known anything. Remeber there aren;t any mention his management groups asked him to held the press conference.

No, it only means someone is lying...

Who would you believe?

Scully, who has not been known to lie about anything yet, and who is spoken of as being a young man of great character...

OR

Silvagni, who stumbled through that interview, and whose own coach (Sheedy) and recruitment manager (Allen) have both denied making contact with Scully (meaning someone in that organisation is lying)...

Tough choice, that one.

I would believe the person who has nothing to gain by lying.

I think Silvagni accidently let it slip as he struggled in the interview. And as for Sheedy's denial, he denied signing Davis after Davis held a press conference announcing that he had.

I haven’t really had an opinion on whether he will stay or go until now, but this makes it pretty clear to me.

There were a couples of morons near where I was sitting booing Scully everytime he touched the ball. Hope these scum never show up to a Melbourne game again.

No surprises there. Scully is going to play for GWS next year, he has been a destabilizing influence on our young team all year. He is unable to give his full attention to the job we are paying him to do. He isn't willing to COMMIT to this team and club. I look at him and see all that is wrong with the competition and those that run it. Although I won't boo him until next year I have no problems with those that do. Personally the only reason I can see for him not playing in the casey 2nds is the need for 2 first round picks.

I have had enough of this Tom Scully stuff. I have stayed silent but it has come time to get the facts out. Scully has signed with Melbourne and is on $600,000 a year. I will answer no questions on this and if anyone continues this post, I will personally stick my hand through the computer and ring your neck.

Mmmm... cop that.

I seriously worry about the state of some of our supporters.

I mean, let's consider a hypothetical - Scully signs with MFC as stated by Diamond Jim above...

How do certain supporters, now baying for him to leave, feel with this result?

They are building up a resentment towards Scully for merely doing what he said he'd do at the start of the season, and sticking to it.

Waiting until after the season to sign, just as Watts did last year, and many other players before them.

Building up a resentment borne out of insecurity and a lack of mental strength, in my opinion.

Like those pathetic "supporters" booing Scully at the football.

Convinced he's going because they are too stupid to think for themselves and realised they are being lemmings, dictated to by the media.

It's kinda sad.

But I wonder how these same people will cope supporting him if (when imo) he stays?

Where we you four months, 100s of pages and thousands of posts ago? I started the season with hair, I've since dropped 20 kilos and am bald.

A new poster with a totally unsubstantiated claim. I remember when this all started there were several people (mainly on BF) who were adamant he would sign within a couple of weeks. I am inclined to believe he will leave, but would be stoked if he stays. I certainly harbour no resentment against the boy; despite having done so (a bit) in the past. I won't deny that I want him to stay and hope he does so!

lol

In fact, it's possible that he and his management team do not communicate audibly but through telepathy. In which case it wouldn't be 'actual communication' as we commonly understand it.

And your willing to judge a highly respect MFC football player Tom Scully, on subjects relating to Tom Scully, when he has expressed his view and desires

And praise a Carlton and GWS stalwart in relations to Tom Scully when Tom Scully has made his stance clear, as a current MFC player

Nice

Can we just clarify, you haven’t been approached and your family hasn’t been approached? Has you management been approached by GWS? “Absolutely not.”

What did other Demonlanders think about the incident where, I think it was Sylvia, did a long , well weighted pass from CHB up the centre for Tom to run on to with the flight. There was a (fairly distant) Eagle player coming from the opposite direction. A small hesitation, and the opportunity was lost. Some may say that self-preservation was sensible. But Brad Green, Jared Rivers,Clint Bartram etc, would have marked that ball.

It made me wonder about our big money offer......and hope it's not accepted.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
