Robert Walls confirmed for never seriously watching Tom Scully play.

Agreed. Any halfwitted BigFooty troll would've done a better job of writing an article. What biased drivel - Murphy on a pedestal with Hodge and Riewoldt when MM wins something of the equivalent to a Norm Smith or continual AA selection that would be valid but at this stage he's a dime a dozen midfielder who's in career best form.

The other tish was priceless - go for the money son ( how Carlton). Outside midfielder? Ha. No wonder he was such a [censored] coach imagine turning up to play for this buffoon. And our last board had him sit in on the coach process :embarrassing:

Scully is an unusual cat.

I think you have to factor that in in all of this discussion.

He simply is not like other 19 -20 yo players.

That makes it highly likely he did say I am going to wait until the end of the year and with his ability to focus and stick to his guns that is what is happening.

I fear however that decision (or the alternative that he has signed) has put him in a dreadful PR position.

Someone needed to tell him (and possibly has) that by letting the speculation continue he will damage his brand no matter what the outcome and is damaging to MFC.

At the moment this thread displays that he really has lost a lot of good will with supporters, if he goes GWS supporters will have the same nagging doubt will he go again to follow the money or a flag.

Personally I would like him to stay because I think our team does have the potential to be one dimensional and we need someone totally professional. I dont like that the speculation is doing the club some damage but it seems we have been inflicting that on ourselves in other quarters so he is not on his pat there.

Deep down i think he really hasn't decided but what I think doesn't count.

Good luck Tom, life is never easy for an outsider.

GWS can approach/talk to players whenever but they can only sign during these windows I thought. Might be mistaken though, also happens a lot with other clubs talking to player during the season. Would be very suprised if clubs weren't tlaking to say Matty Bate at the moment.

"For such a good kick..."

One thing I have observed about TS's football is that he is not a good kick, and doees not have a 'raking left foot'. In fact his obsession with football seems to be about fitness and giving out handballs in traffic, which he is good at.

Walls praises what is probably the most flawed aspect of Tom Scully's game?! He then says he's too small to be elite, but rates Murphy as elite, who is 2cm shorter than Tom?! He says Adam Cooney has never been elite, but he won a brownlow?! Terrible journalism - I can handle critics having a bona fide crack at our players, but that's just lazy journalism. The guy's got a chip on his shoulder about coaches being sacked because of what happened to him, and he thought he'd just sink the boots in.

I think he definitely wins the prize goose award for today, that's for sure.

The teeny bopper boy crush on here is getting ridiculous. I've come to the conclusion that the MFC will be the big winner with this juvenile lead diva is finally gone. The only downside is that there is another 2 months of pre pubescent shrieking to endure.

And another two months of your negative bile. For saying absolutely nothing all year other than "I will put off contract negotiations until the end of the season", you have now descended to calling him a "juvenile lead diva". Others accuse him of virtual treason and "holding the club to ransom".

He is damned simply for his silence.

So let's get this straight.

GWS (Silvagni) corroborates the journos' story that an approach was made last October to Scully yet some of you still won't even entertain the possibility that the player was less than forthright in his March press conference.

You must have skimmed past my post in the interim.

Silvagni did not state that an approach had been made specifically to "Scully/management". Despite their window of approach to players. He did let slip that approaches had been made this year. Which is against the rules - but that is beside the point (we all know that approaches are made anytime of the season and the AFL doesn't really care).

As G.Lyon said last night, "I believe (in) Tom's word."

As I've stated, we wait. Either way we'll benefit.

ADC - "pre pubescent shrieking"...that's ironic.

Loved when Garry was asked about it last night, three word response:

I believe Tom.

I saw your post HT and I was a bit surprised because you're one of the more reasoned posters on this site. But that's okay. I disagree with you on this one. I think it is very clear what he said.

The clues have been there all season as to what really happened in this case. Big bickies are involved. Compensation, reputations and high paying jobs are on the line. Eddie McGuire was right early on when he said it would be the big story of 2011. It has everything!

Silvagni's awkward slip doesn't sit well with the narrative being force fed to the public. But it's for each person to decide for themselves what's really going on.

Wearing a red and blue jumper doesn't immunize a human being to everyday human folly. No matter how uuuuuuuuuuuuultra-professional they (supposedly) are.

FFS.

You, and others, think Tom is a liar.

I, and others, don't.

Move on.

Comprehend your sentence that I have bolded, and move on.

While people are just blindly throwing around accusations I may as well add to the debate, had a conversation with one of Tom's ex teachers. He said that he hadn't spoke to Tom at all however he believes that he'll stay, this was based on his character, a very level headed kid who isn't driven by money. Thsi guy believes that Tom is also extremely loyal and he will want to repay Melbourne's faith in selecting him.

This is just someone's opinion but it needs to be included with all the muck throwing that's been going on all season. I think Tom's character has been unfairly questioned through all this.

Ironic really, the bolded part, because Range Rover is trying to force his view down everyone's throats at every opportune moment...

More like you're calling SOS one ... and the Ox ... and the journos ..... and ther'll be more no doubt.

Like I've said before, I reckon Tom would play for a single desk per year.

It's more about the fact he made a decision to wait, as it would give him the best chance to make an informed decision, and that he has the mental strength to not waver due to pressure.

In fact, I think he relishes the pressure.

That's my view.

More like you're calling SOS one ... and the Ox ... and the journos ..... and ther'll be more no doubt.

It's their job to lie.

Get over it.

But it's for each person to decide for themselves what's really going on.

But you don't have to 'decide' at all. You can accept that there's a lack of real evidence and a preponderance of rumour and hearsay, and just wait until the end of the season for Scully's decision. I know that's not much fun, but it sure beats forming perjorative judgements based on scanty evidence and 'belief'.

I've been interviewed or quoted in the media just a few times in my life, mainly local. But I have never had a piece that doesn't contain factual errors, edited or quoted selectively, or in a couple of cases totally fabricated. If that is my limited experience, what's the 'big' media like? It surprises me that people regard it so trustingly for information and believe what in many cases is simply made up.

FFS.

You, and others, think Tom is a liar.

Oh FFS.

You, and others, think SOS, the Ox, some leading journos and a whole ho of others who daren't go on record, are liars.

I, and the sane, don't.

Move on.... Or should that be 'wake up'.

See ... I can write in that smarty pants Rpfc style too!

In support of RPFC, those leading journalists (Ralphy and Stevo??) and Ox said they think he will go - not that he has gone. So not believing what they say can hardly be construed as thinking they are liars.

There are plausible arguments against and for Tom having signed - a more measured approach is appropriate, rather than implying that those who don't think Tom is gone are insane.

For what it's worth, I think he's gone.

Ox isn't lying at all, he's probably just been given false information.

Everytime a journalist opens their mouth you have to ask yourself, why are they doing this? The answer to all of them is to further their career, they want to be though of as having the inside word because it will give them more opportunities work wise in the future, they don't give a flying #### about anything else, they're only interested in their own brand.

I believe Tom because he had no reason to lie, he may still end up deciding to go to GWS but it's his decision, your stamina on this issue is truly amazing.

Incorrect. They are on record as saying an approach was made to Scully last October ... a charge denied by the Scull camp.

And I see what you are both doing E25 and Rpfc ... trying to make me the focus and have me banned.

When what should be discussed are Silvagni's comments.

But you go on keep shooting the messenger.

No, I'm trying to get you to make some sort of intelligent contribution, instead of force feeding everyone "SCULLY IS LYING. YOUR HEADS ARE IN THE SAND." ad nauseum.

It's boring and obtuse.

Wow RR. Do you really think that highly of yourself? You aren't that important buddy.

It is simple really, if people don't agree with you then you label them insane. Should they offer a differing but equally plausible explanation of an event or series of events to you then they have lost grip on reality.

Unfortunatel Rangey, you do not know all, you are not the centre of the Demonland universe and your opinion of your own opinions is so inflated that it is laughable.

The journos reporting what their unnamed sources are telling them make them secondary sources in the Saga. They can be wrong and not liars - they can be repeating lies they heard but that's it.

Tom is a primary source. He is a liar or he isn't.

I don't think he is a liar.

You should hope this post gets deleted.

Not for anything other than the fact it makes you look like you have delusions of grandeur.

I defend Tom on this thread because of what I said before, and what my signature states.

rpfc cares about the future of the MFC and a flag.

He couldn't give a flying about RR and his crusade...

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
