The Tom Scully Saga © continues ...

If the current GWS offer is accepted and is not much different to the pre season rumoured offer then accusations that Tom may be lying will be shown to be very well founded. In particular as he has a miserable season and is currently worth nowhere near a fraction of that.

That is meaningless.

The journos reporting what their unnamed sources are telling them make them secondary sources in the Saga. They can be wrong and not liars - they can be repeating lies they heard but that's it.

Tom is a primary source. He is a liar or he isn't.

I don't think he is a liar.

You should hope this post gets deleted.

Not for anything other than the fact it makes you look like you have delusions of grandeur.

I defend Tom on this thread because of what I said before, and what my signature states.

rpfc cares about the future of the MFC and a flag.

He couldn't give a flying about RR and his crusade...

Says the man who regularly refers to himself in the third person (poster).

This isn't a crusade. It's a discussion and new information has come to light in the form of Silvagni's comments.

That you find it so unbearable to contemplate is your problem.

I can contemplate it. It was far from convincing. It was further from convincing me to believe Tom is a liar.

But we're back on this 'lying-gate' issue aren't we? If you get banned from it, it isn't my fault, so don't think I will take any blame for it.

You are obsessed with getting posters on here, especially myself, to tell you that you were right.

I cannot do that because of some mumblings from Silvagni.

You are going to have to wait until there is irrefutable evidence Tom signed a contract last October.

I don't think there is, because I don't think he has signed, as I believe his word.

I will change my mind when the facts change - not when unnamed sources tell Barrett, Schwarz et al their 'inside word.'

The end.

Move on.

You hadn't even seen the Silvagni interview and only heard of it here a couple of days ago and it is the smoking gun?

Where are the news articles from your beloved and oh-so-right journos liberating us with the truth by relaying Silvagni's words?

That is meaningless.

Sorry to correct you - it is actually nonsensical.

If he does leave and it is for some amount as rumoured - it proves nothing - particularly as the rumours have ranged from $800 a year to $6M over 5 years = $1.2M - thats only a 33% spread !

What his season offering and his purported worth have to do with whether he has been truthful or not is beyond me.

So can I counter that with this gem - the rumours of Gary Ablett signing up early with GCS were unfounded as he had brilliant year with Geelong finishing a close second in the B&F, VC in the all-australian and worth every penny of what GCS are paying him ? (ummm what ?)

I hadn't seen nor heard about it until yesterday.

It is the smoking gun? Not quite. That sits in a locked filing cabinet in Adrian Anderson's office.

Short of that the journos simply aren't able to open up this can of worms for fear of libel.

But it's a significant piece of evidence nonetheless. It vindicates many of my earlier posts.

Quote me word for word what Silvagni said that you refer to as your "significant piece of evidence".

Surely there'd be no fear of libel if they knew it were irrefutably true..?

Oops. Holes forming already...

Well if there is no smoking gun in what he said - why are you calling me insane for not being persuaded by it?

Short of that the journos simply aren't able to open up this can of worms for fear of libel.

Libel?

An earlier point that you made was that if the journos were wrong then Scully would sue them - ipso facto - him not sueing them means they are telling the truth.

Now they haven't yet met the criteria to be sued? And they are sitting on information?

But it's a significant piece of evidence nonetheless. It vindicates many of my earlier posts.

When they all ran the 'he hasn't signed yet, but was given the contracts recently' I felt that that was vindication of what Tom said. You blew it off as smoke and mirrors...

You seem to lack the ability of self-reflection.

I stay on these threads because I don't like MFC players being unfairly called liars and traitors.

But that is where it stops - I will not reply to another RR post on the Saga; it is pointless for all involved.

The Ox stated it months ago on his Twitter feed that Scully received a GWS offer last October, echoing the sentiment of several journalists.

I have only extrapolated on that view and it seems to me everything that has occurred since fits the logic of that having happened.

Silvagni's comments align with this view that a conspiracy (if you want to melodramatically call it that) has occurred.

You say that posters such as myself are seeking to tarnish the image of a Melbourne player?

Well I say that it is you who are willing to tarnish the image of people like former club champion the Ox and the immensely respected Silvagni by blindly defending that player.

It's a disgrace.

The Ox stated it months ago on his Twitter feed that Scully received a GWS offer last October, echoing the sentiment of several journalists.

The same journalists who all swore that Taylor Walker was a certainty at GWS next season ?

How about this from Paul Connors ?

"Connors expected the East Fremantle product ( R Palmer) to team up with Adelaide forward Taylor Walker, who Connors says has already signed with the expansion club"

I believe ! I believe !

Edit: in the absense of facts I choose to take TS at his word because at the end of the day it really doesnt make a scrap of difference - he will stay or he will go.

Double Edit - double oops !: " Craig is not frustrated nor distracted by the speculation which heightened last Saturday when former Crows ruckman Rhett Biglands declared Walker was signed and delivered to the Giants on a $1 million-a-year contract."

No one minds you extrapolating on that view Range Rover. That is what this forum is for.

However,

What people do mind is that you don't just extrapolate that view, you add your own opinion and then try and ram it down everyone's throats, dismiss any other view of the issue as insanity and continue to berate and scream as loud as you possibly can until people are either beaten into submission or they get so fed up with you they just ignore your posts and stop reading the thread.

Just as you say he has blatantly lied in his press conference and he has been approached and likely agreed to terms, there are others who will argue in the opposite by extrapolating on other comments and events.

What makes your extrapolation correct and others not so?

What makes your opinion more important than others?

Why do you have such a sense of self importance and a need for vindication- are there facets of your life that you are not happy with and perhaps you feel like you do not get the recognition you deserve? Whatever it is, deal with it and stop with this self importance nonsense.

By all means express your opinion but remember your opinion is neither right nor is it fact. It is merely your opinion and it ranks no higher than the opinion of any other poster around here.

The simple fact in all of this is RR, that not one single journalist or media personality has named a source or put any evidence on the table. They simply hide behind the "confidential source" line.

They are tarnishing their own images by not revealling who their sources are. Were they the same sources that said Taylor Walker had signed with GWS?

The player himself however did not shy away from any questions or cross-examination.

He faced up to the music. And because this information came straight from the horses mouth rather than hidden in shrouds of secrecy, many believe it to be far more truthful (and in fact 100% truthful) than anything some reporter or media personality has said.

That is not blind defence of a player. That is based on the player being the only one prepared to answer the tough questions. Something those supposedly in the know are not willing to do.

Can someone wake me up before closing time.

I am basing it on TS answered questions about TS - the journo's are relying on information from others about TS - see Taylor Walker post above. When GWS come out and say we signed him or got commitment last whenever then I will have two parties with first hand involvement contradicting each other. Up until the time that happens I will rely on the only first hand information I have.

Once again, I'm not the issue. Silvagni's comments are.

Everything else you've written above that does not address this is hooey.

Another issue is you need to change your avatar.

And where's your alter-ego Artie?

Another issue is you need to change your avatar.

Whatever happened to Artie? He reached a thousand posts in a month and a half then disappeared. Told me there was no spin coming out of the club at one point.

I'll spell it out for you:

SILVAGNI DID NOT SAY GWS HAD MADE AN APPROACH TO TS' MANAGEMENT LAST OCTOBER HE SAID "THEY HAD MADE APPROACHES" SILVAGNI AND CO TALKING TO SEVERAL UNNAMED PLAYERS MANAGEMENT DURING THIS TIMEFRAME IS NOT A SMOKING GUN THAT TS DESERVES TO BE CALLED A LIAR AND BURNT AT THE STAKE ABOUT.

no need to shout. Silvagnis response was directly to the question of Scully and Ward.. He said they ( GWS) had made approaches to their management.

Its not really that ambiguous. They spoke to Velocity. Simple isnt it...and as you can spell...Im sure you can read.

Whatever happened to Artie? He reached a thousand posts in a month and a half then disappeared. Told me there was no spin coming out of the club at one point.

Probably got suspended.
