i've got a gut's ache

So now you are 4 hours into your hangover, are you feeling tired and the head is a throbber.

I'm jealous. I was the dedicated driver yesterday. You can only drink so much mineral water.

Today sitting back watching the cricket and lubricating the tonsils.

Was doing a jig when rain was dropping.

Whatever we get this time of the year is money in the bank.

Was thinking of biffo and his mates standing in the rain trying to solicit customers for the illegal medicine game.

Then in the dark recesses of my mind ,a picture of BBO trying to AI a feral animal in romsey gave me a little smile .

Some thing are worth the pain, DC, and I would rank pavlova over-indulgence as one of them ... (shaded only by over-indulgence in trifle, and the right sort of plum pudding).

Dance away, jazza. Rain at this time of year is great for the veggies, and the roses, and the hydrangias (and the fuchsias :) )

Just awoke after a big big day at the cricket. Ashes cricket is always exciting.

Thankfully the weather gods ignored that selfish cow cocky Jizza and it didn't rain.

Ha,we got 6 mil.

And thats not a referance to DCs appendage either.

Truth time=had a blowout yesterday and drove to town, and like a gutter crawler i went looking for somebody with a ciggie,{didnt want to buy a pack and end the dream}anyway after 10 minutes of doing laps couldnt see anybody worth talking to and botting a ciggie.Drove home in disgust and ate ,drank and ate again.

Another day of hell has passed.Wish i was a drug fiend like Biffo,at least he knows where hes heading.

Hey Jazza

How long has it been.

My thought is that you need to keep off em but I was always a light smoker and gave up pretty easily after a horrendous night with hangover and small plane trip with much vomiting . couldnt look at alcohol or ciggies for a bout a week and the first ciggie made me recall the horror. After many months went to footy with a mate (lives down your way at Yambuck) who smokes Old Holborn rollies and the aromatic smell is enough to attract me. But can still only have one and the taste is enough to put me off for another season. The ciggies do affect your tastes and good food and wine need to be appreciated without the tobacco dominating.

In short I hope you can remain off the ciggs and keep yourself distracted with thoughts of a glorious season for the dees.

I wouldn't have wasted the 10 seconds typing if it was.

So you're excluding Nathan but there were other Abletts if I recall correctly including Garry Ablett Senior and Junior as well as a few others being brothers and/or cousins of Senior as well as the Tucks and that's not to mention the products of inbreeding that isn't confined only to the Romsey area but apparently also occurs out Drouin way.

So which Ablett is our boy being compared to:

* Senior who ended up playing mainly as a forward who was 185cm, 97kg.

* Junior who is a champion in the midfield who is said to be 182cm, 87kg.

* Other (name)

Petracca is 186cm, 92kg.

Nah, just arxing a question.

BTW, I just read one of those SuperCoach write ups about Petracca on Facebook and it says he averaged 129 points during his two TAC Cup years kicking 63 goals from 29 games. As a bottom age player he scored an astonishing 210 SuperCoach points in the 2013 Preliminary Final collecting 9 contested marks, collecting 23 disposals and kicking 5 goals, 5 behinds.

The boy can play just a little bit.

Double century in sight, jazza. Don't throw it away like Steve Smith. May it rain for the whole week! As for the fishing, it sounds like you are getting quite a catch. Pity you have throw most of them back :-) Perhaps you could fish for marlin before long? Edited by Red and Bluebeard

Mainly get "eastern suburb catfish" these days.

Notice the government has taken away another revenue string from dairy farmers today.

The comparison was to Gary Jnr, as far as accumulating the possies, but also to Gary Snr in regards to the freakish goals.

Petracca is more like Gary Snr's size and is apparently a strong overhead mark, but also able to create goal from nothing.

This team mate of Petracca's and his former Coach, have both said that they think the Saints were mad to pass him up.

FWIW, the Saints acknowledged that Petracca is the better player, but that they drafted for need.

I hope he is as good as some are saying, we need a few breaks. If he is, we have really got lucky with this draft.

On paper only, I think this is one of the best draft/trade periods I can recall for us.

One thing we know, is that Roos has changed 50% of the list since he arrived and there will be a few more changes at season's end.

Yep there will be.

The list is now looking better but time will tell how good.

IMO these guys on the list are not AFL Std that will help us rise and need to be replaced

McKenzie, Mitchie, Riley, M Jones and Bail.

The following will need to have improved results in 2015 or they could find themselves playing elsewhere in 2016

Fitzgerald, Toumpas and what of Garland a very ordinary 2014 and is a RFA at the end of 2015 and there seems no indication of a desire from either side to re sign.

As always the 2015 season holds a lot of interest.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
