I started composing a letter to Peter Jackson this morning at 7.15 am

I am on my fifth version and it is still not working.

Perhaps I should follow Joeboys lead.

How does

"We are Stuffed"

Sound?

how about :

Mr Jackson

Dear Peter,

My observation of our teams list is that we're stuffed. To what extant will the club take measure to rectify this?

yours

A long waiting MFC member.

I'd be sending it to Gillon and Evans.

Biffen will no doubt correct me if my usage is incorrect but I do not think that "stuffed" is le mot juste . There is a far more accurate (albeit vulgar) substitute that springs to my mind.

Stick to your schoolboy toilet humour Moon!

Oui !!!

I'd be sending it to Gillon and Evans.

I have given up for Monday 18th August.

No matter how hard I try I cannot make it sound anything but Go and get F...

Probably not the best idea so I will try again tomorrow.

No don't stop OD. You have just got it right!

Dear Gillon and that other bloke you hang around with (Ewans, or something like that),

Last year I told your predecessor that we were stuffed. He didn't agree, but to be fair on him he was on a lot of junkets at the time and it's hard for us blokes to multi-task and/or think abut problems that are so so far away. He said we had Paul Roos now so therefore we weren't stuffed.

But now Paul himself has come out publicly and said we're stuffed. Further to that, Joey-Boy from Demonland has come out and declared that we're stuffed - actually verbatim it was "we are stuffed" because all Joey-boy communiques are delivered in 3-words. Redleg also says we're stuffed. So that (including myself) brings the four-horsemen together - to prevent the apocalypse happening could we please have a fireside chat post haste about how you can help contribute to our un-stuffing"

Warm regards

Peter

Not bad at all I GaG

Perhaps you could put your mind and Pen to one to the players?

I look forward to your effort.

I am so so so tired of the MFC.

almost at the end.

Fortunately Uni Black continue to win and sit on top of the ladder.

They will be entertainment for the balance of 2014 and perhaps all of 2015.

OD I come out of my 2014 retirement to ask you does this mean the MFC needs a rebuild of a rebuild of a rebuild of a rebuild of a rebuild of a rebuild?

After all the MFC has come from being the worst team in 2013 to be the worst team in 2014.

I would suggest you should write your letter to PJ and ask him that the MFC only recruit AFL standard players.

Hi DF

Correct it has not been much of a journey .

Worst to worst

However with a lot of hard work and positive thought 2nd worst is within our grasp in 2015 DF.

I think it will take at lest three more rebuilds to achieve the 2nd worst AFL team OD.

Rather negative DF

You need to get on the positive wagon right next to me.

Oh and I was trying to be so positive by not really saying what I think of the current MFC players list.

Bring on 2018 or is that 2020?

Anyway 2015 looks to be another rebuild year.

Welcome back frog.

OD,you need to chew on a fat bit of rope for 3 years.{thats how long the rebuild will take}

We seriously have to add JW to the banner of this thread.

Mine would read:

Dear PJ,

I have followed this club all my life and am too rusted in not to. But could the players make it a little bit easier? At the moment I feel like a junkie who knows that stuff is bad for him, but just can't give it up. Give us something please!

True, but 2013 was such a land mark year for the MFC it has a significant impact in 2014 and beyond.

Hi DF

Welcome back frog.

Welcome back, DF

Thanks guys

Sorry I did not make it over for a game or two this season but I have been struggling to keep my interest in the AFL of late.

The Drugs issue has had a big part in this as I am so against the use of illegal drugs/substance and now the Essendon FC etc. in sport. Appears to me the AFL just want to sweep the issue under the carpet but only time will tell if the AFL is actual concerned about the sport/players or just making more money.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?

After kicking the first goal of the match the Demons were always playing catch up against the Saints in Alice Spring and could never make the most of their inside 50 entries to wrestle back the lead.
