So do you think young Jesse should have had a taste of playing now, or not, od?

He was one of a very few that looked the quality of the opposition H_T

Seems like I was wrong

The sad part is he won't play in the real games and with his loss I would say we would be barely better than last year.

Same old same old to me tonight H_T

On that form we have no hope against Port next week.

Only 22nd Feb and the year looks very long already

The only upside I saw tonight was we won't get accused of tanking in 2013

I think tonight was my fault. I sent a whole lot of banana souffles around to the club for the boys and I think they over indulged.

I thought you predicted 2 losses Redleg.

Fairly confident it is not your fault

we still have a lot of players who are way behind on skill

Another 7-8 changed again at the end of this year will help.

Lets not forget we are trying to undo 7-8 years of poor selections in a couple of years.

We have at least one or two more to go to get back to where we should have been at the start of 2011

Yes I did predict both losses but thought we did reasonably well. But for the super goal we win the first match and of course Sylvia's miss from 30 out straight in front. Thought our disposal was as usual pathetic and our turnovers are what is costing us football games. Forward line too crowded early. Jordie's disposal tonight atrocious. Hogan looks good. I have no worries with JV. Pederson was poor, Byrnes ordinary. Rodan good. Kent showed some promise. Dawes ordinary.

The 2nd game we were clearly tired and the Tiges ran us off our legs. We lost 3 players, came off a hot first game and played a fresh side. Jimmy good. Flash not. Joel Mac's disposal still hopeless. Watts a great night and Jones too as usual. We were entltled to stop and get smashed but we hung in. Too many hardly had a touch, like Howe, in this game.

Not disappointed in our first hitout. We kept at it.

It is every game

If you cannot kick in today's game you are a liability.

When JM struggles to make the 22 we will be a good side.

How come he never gets injured and the good players do.

I would swap him for Trengove in a heart beat

It was clear tonight, if we had disposed better we would have beaten North. That would have to be seen as an improvement. As for Jordie, he does a lot well, but disposal is his weakness. He must improve in that area or IMO there is no pace for him in the side, if we are going to be any good.

Spoke to Neil Craig at the family day and he thought in two years we could be a very good side.

Both JMs couldn't hit a barn.

Fierce defensively but zero composure.

Oh well-pressure is on to improve or go to Casey.

Did anyone notice in the last 2 minutes of the North game, 20 metres out, right in front of umpire 15 Nicholls, who must have paid 10 frees to North and 1 to us, Sylvia slung to the ground without the ball by Majak Daw. Obvious free and a goal wins it for us. Glad it is only the NAB Cup.

PS. I really feel that Dwayne Russell dislikes us as a club. Snide comments and failing to put things in a balanced way are noticable.

I don't know why you're so surprised about Russell bagging the club when we have supporters and even an ex-president kicking the club when its down.

Treat yourself to a banana smoothie and relax about it.

I tried but they were out of bananas. Not the first time it has happened either. I had a pineapple and lemon crush instead. Quite good too.

Some say you're too upbeat Old Dee. There's no doubt about it, you're incredibly optimistic.

I admire your relentlessness.

RtG As I see it at least half the list at the end of 2012 was below AFL standard or at the least unable to get us into finals football.

You only have to look at the results over 2011 -12.

We replaced 14 at the end of 2012 and I think there is at min. another 8 to go.

Nothing I saw in the team that played Richmond on Friday night suggested there are not still plenty below the required standard.

This year when all are fit I would say we have an improved best 22 but after they we still fall away badly.

IMO to be a side capable of playing finals football you need 30 - 32 players of good quality IMO we are still way short of that mark.

You have no argument here in relation to your last post. I reckon we're three top liners short and not necessarily all mids. I don't prescribe to the mid, mids and more mids philosophy by the way.

Most critical thing IMO is disposal improvement. We are very poor in this area and unless we improve, the rest won't matter.

The next issue is our gameplan in so far as it relates to creating the loose man and forward setup.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
