The No T$ No B$ Thread

Featured Replies

Recently, pitmaster posted the following comment on the 'you know who' thread (post #1062 for those who are game to venture over there):

"It's been some time since I contributed to the (name omitted) speculation so to avoid being attacked for being un-Melbourne I want to add something. I mean, how can I respect myself as a declared Demon if I am not adding to this thread?"

I have made a personal pledge not to contribute to 'that' thread until the lad has made his decision, so I couldn't respond over there. However, I think some important questions need to be asked and answered, and this seemed like the logical place to do it (thanks Redleg, for creating this avenue!).

Q1. Do I fear being attacked for being un-Melbourne because I choose not to contribute to 'that' thread?

A. Slightly (I'm a coward at heart!) .... but I realise I must be strong! I keep telling myself I'm not going to let my timidity sway me from exercising my democratic right to remain 'Melbourne', while choosing not to become embroiled the 'you know who' debate.

Q2. Do I feel that I have lost all self-respect as a declared Demon because I'm not adding to 'that' thread?

A. No, definitely not! I am my own man, and if I want to remain a declared Demon without sullying (note: there is no 'c' in that word) my self-esteem, then I'm bloody well going to do it, no matter how hard it is!

I know this pathetic attitude might put me at risk of breaching the Demonland Code of Conduct, but all I can do is hope that the Mods (MRC?) will take my good record into account in determining my fate. I'm sure I don't have any carry-over points.

I can answer it even simpler for you, " that thread is full of sh-t" and basically consists of personal attacks on other demonlanders and a player. None of us need to waste our time adding to or being part of it.

Why didn't I think of that!?

Why didn't I think of that!?

Because the price of bananas has gone up and you can't get a banana smoothie. I know the feeling.

In all seriousness though, I am extremely disappointed that I have lost interest in this season. I am still going to all of the games in Victoria, including Geelong on saturday, despite having two horses running at Caulfield. What has ruined my enjoyment is the inconsistent performances of the team, the speculation over you know who, the inability to beat victorian teams other than Richmond and Essendon, pathetic performances at Etihad, players getting injured or ill and pulling out on the day of games, Jurrah not dominating like I had hoped, some players not progressing in their football and others going backwards, speculation about the Coach and fixturing that leaves so much to be desired ( such as 4 games in 23 days and always playing at Geelong), seeing Carlton doing well, etc, etc.

In many ways I wish the season would end so I can look forward to 2012.

To add some balance, I have enjoyed our wins and the fact that we have blooded new players and that some of our boys have kicked on. I am optimistic for the future with our list of young players but I am getting impatient to see some consistent winning football from my team.

Hurricanes and banana plantations don't co-exist well...

That's the issue.

Yep. Queensland Floods & Cyclone Yasi.

That's what Wayne Swan is saying.

They've gone up 407% in Price.

I miss my phosphate intake.

Lucky I love apples.

You know what it's like, you don't want to, but you just can't help yourself.

I hope so as I really miss my bananas on my muesli for breakfast

Considering there have been 260 posts on this site without any abuse of other posters, I will stay in this world and leave the masochistic thread to you and your colleagues.

PS. Have you ever had a banana milkshake?

never, if everything goes to plan..........et tu?

strange........I'm actually looking forward to the silly season after all the shyte of this season

When are all you mad monks going to break your vows of silence and return to the real world?

When the 'real world' is free of di!ck heads, hunger, poverty and war; or when the price of bananas is once again affordable, whichever comes earlier.

When are all you mad monks going to break your vows of silence and return to the real world?

This speaks more of the state of your mind than anyone elses.

I am delighted to be a berry blast type of guy in truth so the banana situation hasn't impacted too much

Want to know a bargain? Buy banana chips. Only 4.99 a killo at Woolies or even cheaper at Preston Market..

All this obsession with bananas and voyeuristic tendencies. I"ve seen you peeking. Monastic life is not good.

pretty much sums it up for me redleg, especially the bit about jurrah

i was so excited pre-season in anticipation of the dazzling feats he was going to perform but the x-factor has been missing from his game this year

and while he might be grabbing a couple of goals a match, he's really failed to impose himself on games - 2nd quarter effort against Port notwithstanding

I hear you. This season is so dead to me.

I'm going to go to the games (not going to Geelong this week), but the interest and motivation is non existent.

Also I can't eat bananas so I'm a cheap date

Was discussing Dees with Mrs. Redleg and her complaint was that bloody Carlton fans seem to get great games, big crowds, lots of highlights, wins and value for the dollar. We don't.

PS. I love her because she loves the Dees and hates Carlton like me.

PPS. I wish I had some banana bread.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
