TBH, it’s actually my new hobby. Seriously, there’s comedy Gold in this thread.

It has become essential reading for 1000’s. I think at one stage it had a higher readership than the Harry Potter 📚 books.

I see it as a vehicle for spreading truth, in a world of misinformation.

Hmmm 🤔 define “truth”

Speaking of definitions I can now say with confidence that I will NOT go to my grave not knowing the definition of “mention” thanks to your good self. 😁

"Truth" are the words that come from my mouth and keyboard.

* Admittedly, that stage was before JK Rowling released the first of the Harry Potter series.

First Harry Potter book published 1997 and this thread started in July 2011.

Pity I didn’t get royalties, like  JK Rowling.

In other words, the Harry Potter series had sold millions of books as well as numerous other sources of finance including a number of movies and you think this thread was more popular?

To the devotees and fans of this thread, there is no doubt it is more popular than Harry Potter.

PS: If you do like Harry Potter, all the movies are being shown currently on Foxtel.

My Grand daughter got me into Harry and the crew. I really enjoyed them.

I’m up to page 10 of reading this thread, and while it’s captivating (at the very least) I don’t know if I can read on. I just saw this post, looked at the date and realised what upcoming match was being referenced. 😞

Not sure I can stomach reading the next (hopefully only a couple) of pages.

I was worrying unnecessarily. There are only three comments posted after the game and one of them was ‘Jaded no more’ (but when still ‘Jaded’) referring to wine as salvation. 😄  Then no more posts for a fortnight thereafter.
I daresay the post-match thread from that day would be an entirely different story. 😑
Anyways, I’m only 12 pages in and the price of bananas has  already dropped from $14.99 per kilo to $9.99. So there’s that.

You do realise WCW that, as you work your way through this momentous tome, there will be regular testing of its philosophical content, moral implications and how it advances one's understanding of life itself.

Sub standard performance may require penance at The Manor.

And by penance you do mean 10 Our Fathers and 10 Hail Marys. Right?

Errr ...... not precisely ...... although your religious reference is apt WCW. Think more along the lines of religious penance in the Middle Ages ( you can exclude burning at the stake).

I’d be put into Stocks and be subjected to villagers throwing rotten fruit at me???
I’d sooner go the burning at the stake option. Over and done with in no time, and zero humiliation. 😑

I look in the mirror to shave or brush my teeth and see a club member of the Premiership AFL team. Gee, I suddenly look and feel better than I have in the past.

You should post that over on that thread pushing for 100 pages, Red😄

Anyone else got a COVID face like mine? We only get about 2/3 of that well-identified feeling then, Red, but it's still mighty fine.

Funny you should say that, Tim. I’ve been reading this thread from the very beginning (yeah, I know, I really need to take stock of my life) and it appears this thread was created, in part, as a place where there’s no mention of “you know who.”  The one with  the initials Tom Scully. Those initials again… TOM SCULLY. There are posts lamenting that “that other thread” which I assume is dedicated to TS, has more pages and how there’s a need to catch up. Ten and a half years and 1081 pages later, here we are. 😁

Ban yourself from Demonland for 24 hours. You mentioned the unmentionable and even worse, on the very thread where the unmentionable is specifically banned from being mentioned.

I hope I don't have to mention this again.

This is a serious offence.

I hope you feel sufficiently chastened.

Could not agree more Mr. Leg, it is interesting to note that while other threads on Demonland have dropped to a crawl the mighty banana thread carries on regardless. The cream always rises to the top!

Not mine, WCW (when you read this after 24 hours' banishment...) - I was referring to the Post GF thread, homing in on 100 😁

p.s. And, yes, you really do need to!😠

Nah, just kidding 😄

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
