I'm having a deja vu moment here but , I need to know - is Kai si ming the dish of choice in Borewood?

fortunately only among a diminishing minority, bbo, who still cling to women's weekly and margaret fulton recipes

do you still take your pots and pans down to the local romsey oriental take-away?

No. The local oriental take-away is on Uncle Bitter's punishment list. They did not bow and scrape sufficiently. I now take my wealth elsewhere.

Lemon batter chicken and special fried rice?

Is there half a chance we could all lift the level of conversation here? Chicken, cats, dogs, foxes, with lemon, like what are we eating now, with rice or not?

27 & 19. Is there more to life, that is worth exploring I wonder!

OK probably not here!

I better go to bed.

Wow. Coupla days off line and the place explodes like a zoo transport truck hitting a brick wall.

More like beef and black bean sauce and banana fritters, especially the fritters ...

Nice one, DC. Now we can work our way through the countdown via the menu ... (apart from 4 and 5 it seems).

Must say you have to love a menu that includes both chips and a meat dish under 'Vegetable Dishes' ... :):blink:

Dr John. You are clearly a man of letters ...and numbers... so you maybe able to help me out with this. I have heard (yes I know hearsay) that in certain establishments in SE Asia that young female employees are in fact, identified by a number that is textered on their .... argh ... person.

Apparently the idea is that if you wish to have an intellectual discussion with said young ladies, you ask the maitre d to invite, let us say number 69 24 over to your table.

Is that your understanding of the process?

I think we may be at cross-purposes, Uncle Bitters. I fear that either to confirm or to deny your impressions about the practices of certain exotic establishments may damage the remaining few tatters of my reputation irreparably. In fact I had in mind something much more pragmatic, given Mr Cutter’s legendary standing in the more familiar establishments of Burwood, in that the use of numbers seemed to suggest a form of mnemotechnics (as we say in the trade, though I have in truth forgotten what trade it is) based on substituting retirement villa or apartment numbers for the names of their residents.

Perhaps I was wrong to do so. I notice that the more innocent, or those with more generosity of spirit amongst us, such as the inestimable Biffen, have taken Mr Cutter at his apparent word and see nothing more licentious at issue than the consumption of Chinese food. If so, I will need to regard Mr Cutter from hereon as a mere gourmand rather than (as others had promoted him to be) a gourmet of more interesting tastes.

No it's not, you are ahead of yourself grasshopper. The balls of the chicken, ( which is interesting in itself ) is tomorrow's dish.

Around here that would be walk and chew bananas wouldn't it?

Duly noted Master. That's what happens when you skim posts like I did of Earl's from yesterday.

Anyway, at least we know what is on the menu for tomorrow as the countdown continues...

lol this thread gets better everyday

What a perceptive little vegemite you are. Enjoy the wonderful frivolity on here, away from the bitterness and nastiness of some of the other threads. The only sniping allowed on here, is about the magnificent countdown, that drives all of us onto greater and more wondrous achievements.

Thursday 26 & 18

As grasshopper HT has told you it is Sour Chicken Balls day.

Who would want to eat the sour balls of a chicken? It just makes no sense, as Seinfeld the Grand Wizard used to say.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
