So is James Hird still the Messiah?

Nothing more satisfying then watching these smug pricks get flogged.

Well, apart from carlton getting flogged by more:)

Essendon are having their all too familiar fade out halfway into a season. Can't say I'm too unhappy after copping it from their supporters for the start of the year.

I guess what it does show is that if your cattle is rubbish the coach setup really doesn't matter.

I know a few here were saying we needed a similar setup and a good game day coach. Hird has been totally out coached tonight and to me highlights the pitfalls of expecting a change of coach will automatically bring sustained success.

In the meantime suffer bombers and dees please turn up and bring your A game tomorrow!

Go dees!

Was there something offensive I missed in the original title?

"He's not the Messiah. He's just a very crappy coach."

I picked them for the spoon in our pre-season predictions thread. They won't quite slide that far but the bottom four definitely beckons for them.

Go read the wrist-slashing on Bomber Blitz. It's a guilty pleasure!

I love us to [censored] the Tigers by more.

I don't think anyone really wanted to see the pretty boy succeed, but even more satisfying for me is seeing that hypocrite mercenary behind him suffering. Not a fan of his at all after the Ablett fiasco. Even better is that Geelong have actually gotten better this year too. Sucked in Bomber.

You'd think they were Melbourne supporters circa 2003

how gold is it when they flash to the pretty boy in the coaches box and he just has that blank look on his face....should have stuck to the media james B)

A competitive effort will do my soul wonders tomorrow. To be in the eight is not important to me this year.Exposing the new players and our future has been satisfying.Closing the yaps of the Jack Watts demolition team, has been one of my greatest pleasures.

My greatest pleasure has been watching a kid from South Australia Be MFC

Fair point.

Poor year = 8 wins or less

Good year = 9-11 wins

Great year = Finals

James "i can't stand seeing Essendon play like this under Matthew Knights" Hird will take the Bombers nowhere in the next 3-4 years and watch how quick Simon Goodwin and others jump ship.

Umm,Sean Wellman!!!

Haha just read a thread on bomber blitz suggesting Wayne Carey could be the solution to their forward line....they really are in free fall...

I think essenDONE spent too long over summer celebrating the miracle that did not happen.

Always believed their coaching panel WOULD play better footy then THE TEAM.

Collingwood on Grand Final day... MUCH more fun to watch them beaten by either a point, or by 100.

Have a look at their list.

What does it teach you?

Don't hold onto not quite rights hoping they come good.

A clean out is needed at that club.

Sorry no,esseDONE and carlton are scum.No matter how much I hate Collingwood,I still respect their journey.Would never respect esseDONE or carlscum.

So many wasteful players out there tonight. Spike McVeigh, Welsh, Ryder, Alwyn Davey, Prismall...and then the kids behind them pick up bad habits. Myers was one of their top draft picks IIRC. Useless til injured.

Even Gadget is finally starting to look past it.

Agreed.

I know how good is it. I bet Bomber Thompson isnt having as much fun. He would not be used to being involved in a team that has lost 5 in a row.

The thing is if it was any other coach they would be calling for his head. But most of the fans wont turn on Hirdy.

This is why Im glad now Garry Lyon wont coach us. He was my fave player and I dont think I could ever abuse him or want him to be sacked if we wernt travelling so well.

Thanks essendon for keeping 8th spot warm for us. But we will gladly take it off your hands. Come on melbourne please please win tomorrow.

The best thing essendon are playing geelong next week. 6 losses in a row coming up.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
