A cringeworthy mistake and a situation that is a distraction to the point where it is detrimental to the team's performance, are two entirely different things.

No matter how you'd like to present them.

But did you hear the interview?

I heard the interview and it was not as bad as some people say.

They were asking about injured players and Cale was answering questions, and then they asked "and Tom Scully?", too which he towed the company line.

A few questions later they said they wanted to know about Scully's injury, to which Cale had a smile on his face and siad that they players keep getting asked about Toms situation and that is why he answered the way he did.

To say it is distracting, worrying, cringeworthy is an overreaction. He answered the question wrong and they all had a laugh.

I think that the issue is more the media continually asking the same questions. I know it is there job and they want the scoop but really there are plenty of other things going on at the club.

Yep it was bad, time for those in charge to do the talking.

I felt for Cale. There appeared an air of frustration IMO at his attempt to rationale his comments at the end of the interview.

Agree totally

The media can't be blamed here can they?

The media training focus of the MFC perhaps. Through no fault of MFC's I will add.

I never blamed anyone, and nor should there be any blame. What should we be blaming anyone for anyway? It was just a small mistake.

I was just stating that it is annoying how they continually ask the same questions, a great example being the 3 interviews with JT where the main topic they write about is his view on Tom, rather than focussing on JT himself or other parts of the club.

Here is Cam's Podcasts if anyone has not heard it

I have Faith in Cam Schwab to do the best for the MFC, after listening to this twice i shall continue to relax and enjoy 2011 B)

Part 1

Part 2

Thanks for that? Anyone know what time Tom will speak?

Cameron Schwab did say quite quickly in the interview that he was not sure if it was going ahead, so who knows. I did gather from the rest of the interview that Tom will speak but he did not divulge when or what would be said. Probably keeping their cards close to themselves. Could be an interesting question time if the media is allowed to ask questions, or will Tom simply have a statement to make? Given that Schwab said they wanted the young players to do intervies and show their personalities, I am guessing he will be open to all questions. A lot of pressure for a young man, buthe can handle it. I cant wait to hear it.

Fair enough then, seemed to me you were putting it on the media as to why Cale was tripped up.

The Trengove interviews really grate with me which I've said enough now. For a young kid that could arguably be better.

This line CS said on the speculation in general. "it's been noise mainly in and around the club". Don't know how to take that one.

The whole club is distracted by the Tom Scully situation, that includes the players. How would you feel running out with a player who may have signed a massive contract with another club. To say it's not distracting is, dare I say it, head in the sand stuff!

Looks like I'll miss that game.

I am not sure about that Roost...I have absolutely no idea what fellow employees at my work are on-it just isn't discussed.

Is a football club any different?? I couldn't tell, so if anyone can elaborate.

I am guessing the players do not often read the Sport section, the club would give them that advice, but anymore i have no idea.

But i think we supporters are way more distracted.

You would have a wary eye on a third of the players at the club then, because that's about how many are out of contract and they're all just as likely to have signed on somewhere else. It's just this one particular case that the media have picked up and run with, but as nutbean correctly pointed out very early in the thread it could just as easily be someone else, but the media vultures just haven't circled there yet.

Great work on hijacking the topic again lads....

Never thought i would say this but it is becoming awfully boring around here with the same crap back and forth over the one topic with nothing even remotely new.... Give it a break!

All the players would know about it because it's been the main football story for the last few weeks. Everyone in football is talking about it, our players would be no different.

If you were a current player wouldn't you want to know if Tom was in or out. Remember he's the only one that has been tied to the GWS circus from our club.

Give it a wide berth then.

If you look up the definition of forum you will see that in part it is to discuss of questions of public interest.

You've made your point on that. Let others do the same even if you may be tired of it.

It is much easier to bypass the comments your bored with than it is to actually take the time to stop and respond.

I'm sick of others thinking they have a right to tell other supporters to rein in their emotions. Casual supporters apparently as one previous poster put it.

I'm not here to prove my worth on a IQ front. I'm here to discuss issues about a great passion of mine.

I started reading what i thought would be an interesting thread about Cam Schwab and what he had to say. I acknowledge he talked about Scully but he also talked about many other things- it has however been hijacked to the one same thing...

There have been 20,000 posts on the one topic in the last month. There is no opinion, thought, feeling or comment that hasn't already been offered 10 times over. All that ever happens is it eventually resorts to name calling and infighting because no-one really knows what is going to happen.

I never told you to rein in your emotions Demon. Take a deep breath....I merely said it would be nice not to have the thread hijacked as has clearly happened.

Here's something for you and all of us in general, lets discuss our great passion- The MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB and ALL facets of it, not just the one that keeps getting regurgitated...

I second, third, fourth ........ that emotion. At the moment on this site there is one degree of seperation between any thread topic and The Tom Scully Saga (TTSS). It is tedious. Keep the powder dry for hopefully the one thread tommorow (What Tom Said at his Press Conference)

Only those who listen to SEN or read the Herald Sun....otherwise it's not huge news. You may be right, but i think the players are more interested in training and the form of the team myself.

Which for all we know thus far...could be all spin from the Media..did Eddiewood reveal his source to all this yet??

I am not aware if he has..don't always be sucked in by speculation Roost, it may be just that.

I've read it in The Age, The Australian, the heraldsun, The local Leader, The MFC website, The AFL website, The FOX Sports website and a couple of other sports websites. I've listened to it on SAW, MMM, SEN and 3LO. I've watched it on Fox, Channel 2, Channel 7, Channel 9 and Channel 10. I've talked about it with all my football friends and some work collegues. Somehow I reckon every player knows what a big story it is and I reckon most of them want an answer from Tom sooner rather than later. Distracting, You betcha.

Well mate, i do not doubt that is how you feel, But it's going to be a mighty long sleepless year for you, because i doubt so much that anything you wish will be resolved tomorrow.

If it is resolved i will happily meet you at a local pub for some serious celebrations... B)

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
