Stynes v Eddie

Featured Replies

that was before Dick Pratt got involved

Thats my point exactly - the Judd deal was done and dusted, signed sealed and delivered until XYZ happened. Which is why my horribly logically way of thinking keeps telling me to let the club do what the clubs gotta do and don't panic until there is something more than wild speculation to panic about. Are GWS in Scully's ear - I'm certain of that - until I see something more than the Eddie telling me what is and isnt fact - I am going to wait unperturbed until it unfolds. My horribly logically brain can't figure out - why sign now ? offer $1m per year ? 6 year contract ? it dont add up

Although Eddy is good at peddling "snake oil" I don't think he would stick his credibility out that far without some substance behind it.

Maybe that will go with all those falafels out there in the GWS......

because of an uncontrollable sense of greed, Judd went to Carlton instead of us. He was always going to be ours until Carlton pulled their illegal-yet-somehow=sanctioned shifty one and took him from us. GWS has even deeper pockets and is also well sanctioned, and most likely we will get shafted again

just don't tell us it's cos of our facilities please Scully

Judd wasn't ours/ was never ours in the first place C&B.

rubbish

been told by many reliable sources he was a demon until Carlton simply outbid us

why the hell else do you think he made the choice

anyone who thinks it wasn't purely about money is living in LaLaland and the same goes for Scully

And Judd landing at Carlton has not led them any closer to a premiership. He - like Scully - is just one man.

Eddie McGuire sees a team coming up and possibly getting in the way of his club's dynasty... what's the best thing to do? Unsettle them by starting rumours...

Sounds pretty good to me.

The season hasn't even started and Eddie is trying to push the foucs of GWS onto Scully/Melbourne. And it's working. It takes the focus off the pies three players.

We all have short memories - I remember Eddie McGuire congratulating us on having Chris Judd signed sealed and delivered. I remember half the journo's in Melbourne reporting that it was a done deal for Demons.

My memory must be bad because I can not remember any journo saying Judd to Melbourne was a done deal.

And what about Jim Stynes Credibility in this? i give our President a hell of a lot of credibility. Eddie was a Hack Journo at ch. 10, his brother Frank was the top Journo. B)

No need to drag Jimmy into this. He says and does what is best for the club in the most honourable manner. Jimmy did say "Eddy is usually on the money" though and nor did he offer anything new to whats been bandied around in the past week.

Actually he made it pretty clear that he did some investigating and believed it to be no more than rumours.

Absolutely But going by the Article Jimma did also check those sources...Eddie is cleverly painting us as weak option in this. We must stand our ground.

Eddie is full of it. He said some crap about tom-toms the other day, got called on it, made an idiot of himself dealing with Sheeds and only now is his source "impeccable" - after it was confirmed that negotiations were on hold until later this year, so he can't get contradicted in a hurry.

He doesn't want the focus on himself, his club or his players, and he is willing GWS to have a big dip at Scully so there is less coin to throw at his boys. It also doesn't hurt that he is getting ratings out of it.

All he is doing is guessing.

Jimmy and Eddie have a lot in common.

When they speak everyone listens..

The difference is no-one cringes when Jimmy speaks..

The difference is no-one cringes when Jimmy speaks..

And jimmy never, ever refers to Broady.

Jimmy will kick eddies but anyday

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
