Agree on the home field adv.

For me for the Rams to win, Gurley and CJ need to get 180+ yards running and Donald and Suh need to be so far into Brees face all game.

And realistically our D will be the difference between win and loss.

Heart says we win, head cries...

You've reached the last 4 out of 32 Gorg and SB's are hard to win ... so whatever happens from here,  you've contended well and can contend well in the future.

My view on team sport is that you have a good list that is constantly being improved on,  never bottom out and make sure you're in some sort of contention in any given year ... and if you get enough goes at it you'll eventually win big.

The obvious key is to have X amount of good players in various positions.  And that's what the Rams have got.  Rest on your laurels and you'll go backwards at a rate of knots.

There has been a petition going around to get the ref changed from the Rams game as we are 0-8 with him in charge ?

Why change?  You"re due up for lots of wins with the bloke according to the law of averages ?

Home town decisions are nearly always going to happen and because of that,  that information has to be factored in.  Solution - make sure you're never on the road during the playoffs.  Or,  just be better than the other mob.  That has been my view for decades now.

Oddly enough,  New Orleans gave away 11 penalties against Philadelphia (4 penalties) last week so the stats don't always pan out the way people think they're going to pan out.  That discrepancy in penalties should have been a story but such is the nature of the 'blame-game',  the lopsided penalty stat in that game was largely forgotten.

If you're good enough,  you'll win.  If not,  the other mob will win.  There are no excuses.  None.

Rams 31 Saints 23

Pats 27 Chiefs 20

Paging @DeeSpencer  @titan_uranus  @WERRIDEE  @layzie  @Dr. Gonzo

Each winner is worth 2 points and podium places and indeed the overall win are up for grabs.

I'll be watching the games 'live' as tomorrow falls into that category of 'Must-Watch-Live' sport.  I've tipped the Saints but would love to see a Rams/KC Super Bowl.  The Pats have had their fair-share of success and the Saints are fairly recent winners of the SB.  So 2 new teams in the SB has high appeal.

Well, I’m about to leave for work, taping the game, should be home by 2pm to start watching i5. Wish us luck!

Go Rams!!!

Just what the doctor ordered. A few much needed big plays and we've got a game going into the half with the Rams receiving in the second.

That's incredible! Johnson makes one for the ages. Unbelievable Rams performance. That's what you watch an NFL game for.

Gonna have to see this back closely later as I've been watching on and off on the phone.

Excellent Rams. Do not like the Saints at all so a good result. @Gorgoroth must be absolutely pumped, like I should have been this time last year until the refs got the Pats home - again. Think the Pats get through again sadly.

KC really needed that end zone interception ... their offense has been virtually non existent.

Correct call by the refs there ... the ball didn't touch Edelman.  A game of millimetres

And just like that the ball tips Edelman's fingers on the next play for an interception.  Yin and Yang.

Edit (I):  So many close calls ... catch to Hogan call was the right call.

The roughing the passer call to Brady was rubbish but the rules now state that even incidental contact to the head area is now going to get called.  The KC defender's elbow just brushed Brady's helmet.

Edit (II):  Score Pats 24 KC 21 with 0:03.32 left for Mahomes to weave his magic

Edited by Macca

New England just way too good with far too many weapons.  Brady and his offense just continue to get it done - as well as their offensive line which was supreme again.

KC had their chances but came up short - with only 41 yards of rushing vs NE 524 yards of total offense.  The Belichich coaching stamp was obvious again.

There were numerous penalties but the offside call against Dee Ford was just unforgivable ... he was a metre offside - what the hell was Ford thinking?  Holding,  pass interference and other penalties are going to happen but lining up a metre offside at the line of scrimmage?  What made it worse was the Brady throw was intercepted on that play which meant the game was probably going to be over (in KC's favour)

You just know the Pats will get it done. Did need some help last year - Myles Jack was not down.

Podium finishes only (possible) for the large majority of us but with 5 points (in total) up for grabs for the SB,  3 are still in the running to win the post season tipping comp.

Points for the correct choice in the SB is worth 3 points with a bonus of 2 points if your choice to win does win and your nominated score for your winner is within 3 points of the actual winner's score.  The losing score is irrelevant.

Anyway,  I'm wondering how much of the folding stuff Gorg might have won if he'd plonked $20 on his first choice and then let it ride?  Actually,  if the average price was 1.80 it amounts to around about $4k ?

But we've seen 5 underdog winners in these playoffs so the average price was more like 2.10 the collect amounts to $16k.  Hope you got on Gorg! ha ha

GOING TO THE [censored] SUPERBOWL!!!

WHO’S DOME???

RAMS [censored] DOME!!!

now to watch who we play!

Both games wow...

The obvious no call on Robey-Coleman to Lewis was huge... Saints would be livered (so glad they got knocked out like that).

F%÷king Brady & the Pats was pulling hard for the Cheifs. Huge conversions on those 3 3rd & 10s from Brady... Still don't entirely agree with the OT rules, yeah it's not just about offense & your D need to play their part & make a stop, just doesn't sit well with me winning a coin toss gives an advantage

Ok, so my heart rate is finally under 100 ?

Pumped with the results, the Saints looked awesome early and our offence looked terrible, Gurley dropping everything and Goff looking like a deer in headlights.

But we turned it around and Goff settles well and Greg the leg got it done twice!

But the game was won by our D.

Got lucky on the non call late in the game, and that will be the talking point forever, but I thought Donald and co should have received a few holding calls in their favour. But as Macca always says, some go your way, some not, but at home you usually get the rub of the green. Ref obviously also thought this was Rams house!

Whilst I agree that the non-call to Lewis was so bad that it could only be described as ridiculous,  there was another obvious non-call on a face-mask incident against Goff that would have given the Rams a fresh set of downs on the Saints 2 yard line.  As it turned out,  the Rams had to settle on a field goal instead.

And given how hot the league has been on protecting the QB's,  it's astonishing that they did miss that face-mask call as well.  Rules are rules.  It's my belief that both non-calls cancelled each-other out.  Doesn't make it right because 2 wrongs don't make a right but the Saints got lucky as well.

@Macca I was going to do a multi week one but didn’t and haven’t bet on any... I’m an idiot..

Tipping & gambling are 2 completely different animals Gorg.  When it comes to the hard-earned,  I'm quite reasonable.  As for tipping,  you've made me and others look like complete novices in this post-season comp!

Still,  you're not quite over the line yet and your 2 rivals know that you'll almost certainly be picking the Rams to win the SB.  Unless you decide not to!  ?

All the best Gorg, for more than a fleeting moment I thought I could taste the success in SB51 & it was sweet, could only imagine what it's really like...

I'll be rooting for your boys! Fingers crossed you can do what we couldn't & knock those Pats off (preferably come from 29-3 down to win) ?

The face mask call was easy to miss and really it's the kind of call that the game is better to miss. QB's don't deserve extra protection when out running and copping incidental contact that is no risk of injury and doesn't impede them.

If you can't even see it from the behind angle and he isn't hampered at all then it's probably not a big deal.

The later non call is far worse because it was at least 2 penalties! Helmet to helmet as well as the interference. Plus it would've ended the game and that means the ref was probably afraid to make the call. Anyway, should be review-able as it would be an easy call.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
