Keen to see how the Rams go vs the Eagles.
I think we are better this year (injuries are hurting tho) and what I've seen from the Eagles so far they are a notch back on their pass game and their D hasnt looked as strong.

That's because they are missing big Bryce Huff off the edge! 😜

Packers Chiefs Colts

Packers

Chiefs

Colts

Oops, didn’t leave myself many options lol.

Broncos, Cardinals, Chiefs.

ok, so my Rams today...

Where to start, first half D was as good as I've seen, they were great. The special teams were huge until the 2 blocked FG's, one is bad, two in the last qtr is horrible.

We left too many points on the field in the first half, we should have been further in front, 2/6 from the red zone, one a penalty when we had got in.

Adams dropping a catch in the End zone, hard catch, but Adams catches most of those and it ends the game and it led to the first blocked FG.

The taunting against Puka was horrible, so so horrible. Then they dont call PI with 41s to go which was clearly PI.

Oh and the first two tush Push were both false starts and they scored off one. (ban it)

But at the end of the day, we choked and just weren't good enough when it got tough.

Now I'm going to go bury my head in the sand for a week.

That was something none of us saw that coming.

Well I did, even though I picked them (there weren't an abundance of standout road chances)

If you don't come to play in the NFL, a loss is forthcoming

Plus, I'm not convinced that the Packers are that good anyway. We haven't got a stellar QB to win games for us anymore ... even though Love is quite good (but nowhere near great)

And the new found defence and the running game is still a work in progress, not a staple (yet)

As I mentioned last week, there's hiccups along the way and the loss against Cleveland will teach the team a lesson (or should do)

You didn't choke, you were just beaten by a better team on the day. And @ the Eagles is probably the hardest road game

To get within one score should give the team heart

The use of the word 'choke' is quite often overused

Except when it comes to Collingwood!!

I saw the last 2 minutes of the game

the blocked field goal can happen. but some poor play to allow the Browns to get within range with 37 seconds on the clock. they had no time outs left either.

going purely off the score it looks like your defence held up ok but only scoring 10 points won't win too many games.

Packers should be scoring more than 10 points against almost any other team but we had an off day

Running game & Passing game poor

But no biggie, that's sport and a loss like that is a huge wake-up call and can be used in a positive way

I thought it might have been a trap game and it was

Also, the pundits talking up the Packers after one win now look a bit foolish

They'll probably lash out now

26-7 up part way through the third is a choke in my book.

I mean the scored a TD off the second blocked FG so we really lost by 1, but up by 19 you shouldnt lose.

We see these types of comebacks & run-ons constantly in numerous sports these days. I don't see it as choking, more so that teams just get on a run when everything falls into place

Playing style to protect a lead? That's a whole other conversation and the blame can be placed on the Coaching team in that scenario

It's debatable but I reckon the Demons played to protect leads in the first 10 games of 2022. We kept winning but bad habits can be formed when doing that.

You lose the killer instinct

Teams tend to not crush & destroy as much anymore ... and in doing so, they give the other mob a chance

I didn't watch the whole game as intently as you, Gorg, but did the Rams go all out after getting to a 26-7 lead?

In the NFL, the teams with a decent lead at half time will more often than not, go into conservative play calling mode but the opposition know that (that's the issue) ... telegraphing your intentions is bad enough, but against a really good side in their house? Recipe for disaster

Meanwhile the trailing team will often take a lot more risks. It doesn't always come off but when it does, the team with the decent lead often get accused of gagging, choking or freezing up if they cough up the lead

Not so much the Rams/Eagles game today @Gorgoroth , but more an observation of how the sport can work

I watched the NRL Penrith/Bulldogs game yesterday and Penrith were intent on obliterating the Bulldogs after they attained a good lead. Killer instinct!

Belichick would often do the same at New England and then got accused of running up the score. What he was doing was just killing off the opposition (in my view)

It's often said that when on the road in the NFL, don't ever settle for field goals. You need TD's to win as the home team will often score TD's as their M.O

Lions @ Ravens ... a loss to either of the teams takes them to 1 & 2 so a lot to play for

I don't think they went too conservative. They didn't score enough TD's in the first and had to take the FG's.
Lost our RT for a bit and they got great pressure from there after the injury and when he came back in the fourth we were better, a few drops, a few passes that Stafford would normally hit all day long he over threw, the non PI call hurt, the taunting call really hurt and the blocked FG's you cant fathom.

But I think McVay thought the D would continue holding and they didnt, Hurts started hitting Brown down the field and they got confidence.

I'm just going to take solace in the fact we pushed them and should have won this one and we can compete with the best.

Currently I don't have much time watch games other than my team but I did watch the youtube highlights of this one.

These ones hurt. Obviously there's two ways to look at this one but I think with where the Rams are currently at profile wise they need to take the positive out of it. The Eagles look inevitable at the moment but in that first half it really looked like LA controlled the line of scrimmage. Teams are built inside to out and I thought that was encouraging as Philly still have a menacing defensive front.

Like us you seem to be struggling in the secondary and losing old mate Witherspoon last week did not help.

It's what you do next after these games that counts and a bounceback win this week should setup a nice SoCal-NorCal grudge match the following Friday 😊
