Rams start with a win, offence looked on point most of the game, Goff was very good, his interception should not have counted, he was hit in the head so hard his helmet spun half off his face.

D started well except for the tackling which was horrible at times but whe; it counted we shut them out.

Aaron Donald is the best. Change my mind.

Wow nice way to wreck a morning! Got sliced by Deandre Hopkins all morning and when Kittle got hurt did nothing after. My expectations are tempered this year though, I think it's going to be real tough to win the division and can even see us finishing 4th with a winning record.

We're going to struggle at WR depth this year,  especially with Deebo on IR for the next month still.  Hopkins and kyler Murray cut us up,  although Murray was on the right end of some very soft calls when sliding at the end of his runs.  Like you,  I'm not confident of winning nfc West this year

Spot on Demondave. No Deebo, Aiyuk, Richie James getting inured early, same with Kittle. I'm not a fan of Dante Pettis at all and he wiffed his big chance today. Definitely a few soft calls, that slide was murder.

Jimmy G very underwhelming as well.

Aaron Rodgers wasn't underwhelming though GtB!

The man looks to be back,  better than ever.  Pinpoint accuracy with 3 or 4 long throws ... a sight to behold.

And Cam Newton under Belichick? ... an unlikely pairing but it might just work if we go by what happened today.

I always felt that Brady needed Belichick more than Belichick needed Brady.

@macca was talking to my mate at work who is GB and said Rodgers played with the biggest chip today. The big thing also was they played their offence smartly and not with Todgers to make the big miracle plays all day.
Got a run game going which always helps

Rodgers was amazing. I've been using lack of pre season as one of the factors for QBs under performing but he didn't even need one, one of the best pure arms I've had the privilege of watching.

Said for years the best two QB were Rodgers and Brees, Mahomes now joins them, Brady has always been a very good QB in an outstanding organisation.

Rodgers had to swim through all of McCarthy ineptitude and the horrible drafting/trading that saw the packers play with no good RB or. Decent one they didn’t use.

Brady is/was outstanding but Belichick made him even better.  Rodgers has never really been surrounded by that sort of structure - the structure not being terrible but certainly not great.

Father time is catching up to Tom as well.  And he can't carry Tampa on his shoulders.  If he does, I will go out of my way to give full credit.

Yeah it's difficult to argue with really. He instantly goes to another level when he gets some sort of running game.

Despite his off showing yesterday I am very keen to see what Brady is like this year with some decent receivers for a change.

It'll be a while before I'm assessing Brady at the Bucs. They are a patchwork quilt and with no pre-season to speak of it'll take a while to come together.

Rodgers was good - but Rodgers is always good

Brady's 2nd half against Atlanta in that SB was immense too.  He carried the team that day.  At other times it's all been on Brady.  But the conduit is Belichick.

Prefer to view all the greats as great but all the greats would only look better under (arguably) the best of all time in Belichick.

Who's to say that the combo of Belichick and Cam Newton doesn't taste success.  I wouldn't bet against it.

I should also add that I reckon it's a good move for Tampa to bring in Brady for a year or 2.  For all sorts of reasons.

It's highly doubtful that they can win big but they can remain relevant and probably won't otherwise bottom out.

And it costs them no picks and a QB learns from him.

There was no downside to it really.

Titans just win after Gatowski misses 3 field goals and a PaT. Then kicks the winner...

Being an older pro, he should stay on the list but another one like that and the Titans prob hunt for a new kicker.

Listened to both games today (on & off) ... none of the teams today look all that threatening although the Steelers might be half decent.

As is often the norm no one picked up any points in the tipping comp.  2 out of 3 ain't bad but it ain't good either when looking for 3 road winners.  Colts & Eagles put most out.

My 3 standout winners for the week - Seahawks,  Patriots,  Ravens.

Rams,  Packers,  KC & Saints all did what they needed to do.

Teams to post a significant loss - 49ers,  Colts,  Eagles,  Vikings.

@macca, I watched the packers, rams, chiefs, titans games in full and saints first half.

Being biased but for a team no one knew what to expect from I was super impressed with our O line, they moved well, kept Goff mostly clean against a great Rushing team and opened holes for the running backs to exploit.

He survives thanks to money in the bank but geez any other kicker is out on the street after that!

Agree. They did mention the surgery he had on his hip but I also noticed he changed his boots after the last miss before kicking the winner.

@layzie  @Gorgoroth  @DemonDave  @Dr. Gonzo  @JV7  @Dappa Dan  @titan_uranus  @DeeSpencer  @Clintosaurus  @Dee Zephyr  @Go the Biff

Might copy & paste the above when I think of it

Anyway,  2 points on offer in the tipping comp this week.  No leaderboard yet as we're all still in the barriers (Chautauqua style)

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
