This is what I read into it Enforcer, As I've said in previous Blease threads. I believe this kid will struggle to make the grade at AFL level solely because he broke his leg and his game is built on speed, run and breaking lines. Seasoned AFL players rarely come back from seriously broken legs let alone skinny kids yet to play senior footy. I hate to say and I mean this I really hate it but I think we have lost out on a No.18 pick. Shoot me down at will, I hope I'm wrong.

I for one have no idea about Sam Blease and whether he's going to make it, beyond what I read on this forum. So how about you stop bitching about others' stupidity and help them get smarter if you're so bloody intelligent yourselves. Credit to E25 for at least touching on the subject of his actual Casey performances before beating the hell out of the OP.

I think the process of evolution is little more complex than that... besides you'll find that welfare recipients receive a pittance in comparison to middle class welfare recipients and tax systems that favour the wealthy which seems to prop up plenty of useless people with limited life skills...but this is neither the time of place to debate such things.

i agree on both accounts, as blease will struggle to make the grade, a broken leg is a long recovery, and although he is a good player it is tough to be able to still keep the form of before an injury, also with a midfield including, scully, trengove, mckenzie, moloney, sylvia, davey, jones, gysberts, morton, bail, grimes and new recruits it will be tough for all midfielders

I just find it funny that the people saying Blease will struggle to make it, seem to be basing it entirely on the fact that "he broke his leg", and not on his apparent recovery progress thus far or on his actual prognosis. The fact that he has even come back and played football at a very high level this year and made an impact, influencing the odd game with his pace, is a pretty good sign.

I would like to add a little something to this discussion from a medical point of view. I have experience working as a doctor in a major trauma and orthopaedic unit. I have been a VFL club doctor and I'm currently studying to becoming a sports physician. I have a good knowledge of recovery from fractures such as this one. I will not reveal how I know, but I know exactly what type of fracture Sam sustained. And I just want to dispel a myth or two.

First of all, Blease did not have a Nathan Brown type of fracture. His fracture was completely different, and though not quite as minor as the club initially tried to make out, it was also not that bad either. There is absolutely no reason that this type of fracture should take away Sam's pace in the long term. It can take time (sometimes a couple of years) to regain full mobility and confidence after such a fracture. But Sam will be absolutely fine down the track and will eventually forget this ever happened. IF he doesn't make it in the AFL, it will be because he is not good enough at playing football. It will NOT be because of physical limitations caused by the fracture. It may very well be that the time and development lost because of the fracture might hinder him in making it in the AFL. But it will be because of lack of football ability, not be because of the physical limitations post fracture.

So if you want to take my opinion, I feel that this debate should be about Sam's football skills, not his ability to physically recover the attributes that saw him selected in the top 20 kids in the 2008 ND. Because all of those physical attributes will still be there when he hits his peak in few years time.
