MFC Rumours

Featured Replies

No actually accurate- is going to become our Ruck coach- doing a fine job in the roll at Casey.

He must have a read up a bit on rucking because he was ordinary at MFC and has little experience in the top level. A bizarre choice indeed.

This post just confirms how much you take an interest in our club

This post just confirms how much you understand the concept of sarcasm.

"Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit."

Oscar Wilde

Yes, but the highest form of entertainment.

since when is Oscar Wilde the infallible font of knowledge?

I don't think he ever went to a game of football let alone played

mind you he was a pretty good exponent at sarcasm himself

sarcasm? I thought it was more flippancy :o

sarcasm? I thought it was more flippancy :o

Both.

But sarcastic that Petterd would be going to GC and even moreso that you'd have heard it here first.

Semantics.

O well it is a fact- and is doing a very good job.Maybe you can get to a game and see for yourself.

Right. He has been shoved to the rookie list and has not played senior football for 18 months and we are still paying him contractual wages.

I guess its better than having him clean the boots of the players while we pay him. And I am not sure how you assess that he is doing a good job. I would not put Jamar's great year to him. Jamar just needed fitness to back up his good games last year. PJ and Spencer really have not progressed. And Fitz and Gawn are too raw.

His contract is up at the end of October. He will be gone. There must be better options out

***Legitimate Rumour Alert***

Got home from work today and Mother Bear told me that one Cameron Bruce was rumoured to have had contract talks with the Gold Coast Suns. I think she said Channel 7 News reported this?

Over and out.

That would definitely not be the end of the world, considering he's 30+, won't be around for our next tilt in 3 years, and doesn't actually play an overly important position on the ground (half back flank/tagger)

He's be top 5 in our B&F most likely, and considering he is one of our best paid players, we will definitely get at least a late first rounder for him under the current criteria.

If he did go, and we get a late first rounder, i'd only use it in 2 years time, so a late first round pick is 19, instead of pick 30 something. Also at that time we'll be pushing for top 4, so an ongoing injection of talent will be important

The funny thing about this thread is that 3 times this season I have made posts of yet to be announced facts of interest. On each occasion the moderator has deleted my comments as they know they are fact not rumour!! Go figure.

I wouldn't be to disappointed if Brucey went to the Gold Coast, nor would i have any hate towards him for leaving, he has been an outstanding contributer to say the least for this club and if he thought heading north would prolong his career and help his pocket for after footy life then good on him. This would just open a spot for a Gysberts, Tapscott or grimes to play full time in the middle.

Well said, sir. My thoughts exactly.

You are dreaming if you think we would get a first round pick as compensation.

After 2nd round at best.

GNF, you know well and truly why one of your posts was deleted on one occassion. There was good reason and with best intentions even for you personally, you even recognised this and verified this by thanking me for the deletion. The other two occassions I am unfamiliar with; hence I cannot comment on.

Ok well here is your chance...

What were the 3 rumours you posted??

Cam Bruce, Matty Bate heading to the Suns... With Bate a bigger chance than Bruce...

With two rounds left for the season we should expect to hear about retirements soon (if any)...give them a chance for a send of game.

but with more and more cash up for grabs these days players are more incline to continue playing until shown the door....

so who's a chance for a send off game?

I 100% agree High Tower, I should not have been giving such details. It could have cost me a close friend. Call it a rush of blood.

Yesterdays comment about facts being deleted although true is just tounge and check.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
