Sport 927's Adam White has revealed Port Adelaide are looking at Mark Jamar as a possible new Ruckmen.

I wonder what they think they will propose.

Idea's?

dependin on the SB trade, pick 8 or 9 or 10around that level for jamar and buckly

There was a fair bit of discussion regarding the merits of pick 9 for Jamar in a recent thread. I think a pick in the first round is fair. However, if we trade out Jamar then we should look at a mature replacement or we're in a world of hurt next year.

How do people rate Jolly v Jamar? I think Jolly shades Jamar at the moment but Jamar's younger.

EDIT: Shades is probably the wrong word. Fwiw, if we traded Jamar he'd be a year older than Jolly was when we traded him for pick 15. As Roos has said, Jolly's improved a heap since then and this draft has a shallow pool of players due to the changed age eligibility.

C'mon Rogue. Jolly is way better than Jamar. I'd take pick 8 or 9 in a heartbeat, but there is no way Port would be that stupid.

This is the same club that Nick Stevens go for free on 'principle' yeah?

where do i sign, that's too good too be true, Jamar was not worth pick 8,9 when he was drafted,he is no way in hell worth that now, if they would give up pick 8 or 9 jump at it, just think 1,2,8.11,18 how can we not be a premiership threat in 2 to 4 years time,ITS njot going to happen, we would have to give up arron for that to happen, port are not north though, they are the only club who sales there soul for a 2 year player, with there top 10 picks.

Jamar's not a star ruckman....when will people realise....he's worth a second round pick, at most. Throwing a depth player like Buckley or McNamara in will not make that a first round pick!!! Jolly is easily the superior ruckman.

I agree, but when you hear that teams are interested in players like Daniel Bell and Chris Johnson (last year), I find that staggering in itself and therefore, in my book, anything could happen, during this trade week.

Well....we'll see what happens.

Don't get me wrong, that would be a ridiculously good trade if it went through, if we somehow drugged the Port recruiters.

Strange things happen in footy...

You've got to be joking. Jamar isn't worth a top 20 pick.

"Jolly shades Jamar, but Jamar is younger"

If you check out the previous thread, apparently some on here aren't keen on this deal :o

As for Jamar's value, it's a lot higher then people think. 2 weeks ago people were actually talking about being happy with 2nd round picks or lower for Brock Mclean.

Seaby was what. Traded for Pick 22.

I've read it and laughed at those who weren't keen on it. That said, I've read regular posters here who claim that Ward was a good kick  . It'd be fair to say that I don't pay much attention to what the majority think.

What is Jamar's market value? Port need a ruckman. If Port have 8 and 24. Rumour has it in order for Burgoyne to get to Hawks it will take more than just pick 9.. and it may also involve a 3 way deal to get it done. So it may be the pick from the 3rd club involved. Then again it may not....

I'd rather Jamar over Seaby.

I think a pick somewhere in the middle of those would be fair.

Port need a ruck but if we lose Jamar we're in the same boat - at least short-term.

mate jamar is about as important as a hole in my head, top 10 pick would be much more important, seaby is better, are you in love with jamar, because only one who is blinded by love would think 8 or 9 is not a good pick up for this 1980's tap ruckman, you have to get a few kicks and handpasses in this day and age of ruckman, unless your are a giant like sando

Unless we are after Jolley we need Jamar he is the only true ruckman we have at present on the senior list. Spencer is a rookie, Martin and PJ are just stop gaps and Meesen is injured and unknown.

If we were clever we would go for Jolley and trade Jamar and we may be able to do it without losing too much. Jolley would probably be good for another 5 years and that would fit in with our plans for the next 4 to 6 years with Spencer moving through and maybe Meesen improving to take over when Jolley starts to decline.

Jamar had no currency two years ago now he is a wanted man, but we may want him as well.

Is it possible we have countered, or leaked having countered, to give the impression of wishing to retain MJ whilst intending to trade him anyway?

I think its fair to say that MJ is not in the top 10 ruckmen in the comp (name your stat - hitouts, hitouts to advantage, posessions, marks in general play, marlks inside 50....).

Why on earth would he be worth any more than a low second or third round pick?

I'd do a deal in a heartbeat.

If you have a look at Jamar's stats for the year I think you will find there were quite a few double digit possession games.

He also started to take marks and his ruck work was levels better than his previous years.

I agree if we do Trade Jamar, we need a ready made Ruckmen for next season, So jolly is the only fit.

Otherwise Jamar is a required player unless jolly becomes available.

To think otherwise is ludicrous. Ruckmen take a long time to mature, & I think the Russian really showed a bit this year.

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
