Give him a break. He's been one of our best today, and that's with a bung ankle. Him and Green are just about our only forwards. As an aside, how clean are Watts' hands? It's a shame he's got a bit of Bruce about his kicking action. I hope that was just nerves, but I'm a little worried about that.

We had a chance to get in back in the game early in the quarter and he turned the ball over. It had nothing to do with his ankle, he's just so slow in certain circumstances. I understand that we don't have alternative right now so we just have to live with it but 3 points from one of our best forwards is not good. Let's call a spade a spade.

are we hurting for lack of forward line? kicking only 6 goals speaks a lot about delivery from the midfield.. but 6.10 also may indicate no goal kicking potential? we cant be proud of our depth when there's none in the forward line.

Without doubt. Petterd and Jurrah are being missed. Even with both of them in we are still lacking a physically mature marking target (not Miller).

I'm more concerned with the form of Green, Sylvia and Davey. Need a turnaround soon.

Think Green has been good this year, like most, so i think green bashers are being harsh, but Sylvia was very ordinary today, and last week and the week before against North, so i imagine we would be looking more from him.

Did more around the ground, yes. Took a few strong marks, gave off some slick handballs and got some nice pick-ups around the half-forward line. Probably in our top 5 today I'd say. And he wasn't even that good. Says a lot about the team.

Lucky MFC had that second quarter, otherwise it would have been a scary looking scoreboard.

Hmm. If we could kick 15 goals we'd be winning every week. We consistently keep opposition totals below 90 points.

I was at the game today and noticed a few things.

# Jack Watts moved well, took a couple of good contested marks, handled the ball well off the ground. Positive start.

# Early in the game we really lacked forward line pressure. The Eagles just bounced the ball out of our forward line with no pressure on them.

# Later in the game the Eagles really pressed our backline run. We had to revert to going sideways and backwards. Plenty of turnovers ensued.

# Trengove played really well early but looked absolutely exhausted in the last quarter. It might be time to invoke the mercy rule and give his young body a week off. Problem is the stupid f'n media would have a field day.

# Jordie McKenzie played really well again.

# Junior played really well. Again.

# We had our asses reamed by the umpires. That was the most disgusting display I've seen in a long time; and I was at the Bulldogs game last week. They destroyed us early.

# We missed Aaron Davey's run after he was hurt.

# Colin Sylvia had a poor game. He got enough touches to be counted as serviceable, but did no damage whatsoever with his possessions. He was also beaten one-on-one in a couple of important contests which is uncharacteristic for him.

# Paul Johnson had an absolute stinker.

# Jamar was very good again but ran out of legs. His one man war against the rest of the AFL is possibly taking its toll. He had nearly double the hitouts of the WCE at half time, yet by the end of the game the hitouts were basically even.

# Once again, we managed to let an opposition player dominate us from go to woe. Today it was Pridis. Surely we have the capacity to shut down one player who is killing us all day...

# We had about 4000 handballs to the WCE's 100. We had far less kicks. We got smashed in the air with 40 less marks. We had more contested possessions than WCE but far less tackles. We had 30 to 35 centre clearances (which was more even until the last 20 minutes of the game when it was all over) - conclusion: We were beaten in the air, but still won plenty of football, but used the ball poorly and were corralled into too many handballs - leading to tackles and turnovers. So despite us looking flat, we actually had a crack but just didn't use the ball well enough.
